Assistant Project Manager
The Asst. Project Manager assists the Project Manager with the overall planning, execution, and successful delivery of assigned construction projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and in full compliance with contract documents, specifications, and client expectations. This role is a substitute for the Project Manager and may provide leadership throughout the project lifecycle (from pre-construction through closeout) ensuring effective coordination among internal teams, subcontractors, vendors, and client representatives. The Assistant Project Manager assists in the preparation of project estimates, schedules, value engineering options, and other pre-bid requirements as directed by senior leadership. This role requires strong project oversight, proactive risk management, and a commitment to quality, safety, and customer satisfaction. ResponsibilitiesHelps leads efforts to ensure construction projects are in compliance with all owner requirements, including, but not limited to, safety, outage notifications, coordination of work, etc.Works to support everyone in following the proper protocol when reporting jobsite/work incidents or accidentsMakes certain compliance on all ILSM requirements (logs and inspections)Leads (when Project Manager is not available) or assists in holding weekly toolbox meetings as neededHelps to oversee subcontracts and TTG self-performed work to assure complete conformance with project plans, specifications, and contract documentAssists with the project punch list (pre- and substantial completion) or other completion documentation is completed in a timely mannerAssists with reviewing and approving the proper written documentation of project issues, as-builts, etc.Oversees with the Project Manager daily inspections are occurring to ensure quality control standards (cross checking submittals, checking material received, verifying subcontractor work)Timely responds to all customer and field inquiriesAssists the project estimator in the preparation of cost estimates, schedules, proposals, and other bid documentsHelps to maintain detailed project schedules and budgets in accordance with project requirementsAssists to negotiate and execute subcontracts allowing for gross profit and following TTG standardsWorks with Project Manager and others to efficiently allocate and manage workforce, budgets, and tools to maximize productivityReviews look ahead schedules to ensure construction project assigned will be completed on time and correctly (using Asta or MS Project)Pursues change orders due to increased project scope or cost overrunsPerforms some of the smaller pre-bid review of plans, specifications, and other contract documents for all potential project assignmentsClearly able to establish detailed construction project schedules and budgets in accordance with TTG standard formatsReviews and ensures all documentation related to the construction project are able to be viewed, items are correct, and able to be retrievedEnsures self and team are up to date on knowledge and adherence to regulatory compliance policies, rules, and standardsPrepares concise and thorough construction project schedule of values for client approvalAssists in successfully developing, submitting, and negotiating the acceptance of profit improvement Value Engineering ProposalsWorks closely with estimators by attending pre-bid meetings and ensuring open communication necessary for accuracy of contract bidsSchedules and conducts effective Job Kick-Off Meetings with client, architect, and other appropriate TTG PersonnelConsistently and accurately provides project administrators with reports, approval of subcontract agreements, purchase orders and other documentation necessary for verification of deliveriesAssists PM to act as a liaison between the owner, architect, engineer, contractor, and subcontractor when resolving issues arising during the course of constructionProactively works with project team in identifying challenges, analyzing root causes, and implementing effective solutions to keep projects on schedule and within budget while maintaining quality and safety standardsProactive with PM’s oversight in submitting subcontractor progress payments and progress payment requests to owner/architect for approvalAssists PM in timely approval of subcontractor and other vendor invoices prior to paymentAssists PM with conducting final walk-through with the receipt and confirmed completion of the owner/architect punch listPerforms other related duties upon requestQualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED equivalent plus at least 5 years of successful experience as a Project Manager in commercial construction or an undergraduate degree in engineering or construction management with at least 2 years supervisory experience.OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification (required)Certified Construction Manager (CCM) through CMAA (preferred)Project Management Professional (PMP) through PMI (preferred)LEED Accreditation through USGBC (a plus, especially for sustainable building projects)Current valid driver’s license, and a driving record that meets company standards are mandatory.
