Drone Software Engineer
We are hiring full-time Drone Software Engineers at our Sunrise, Florida headquarters. This is a robotics software role: embedded C++, Linux, and hands-on ROS/ROS 2 are required, with working familiarity in the ArduPilot/PX4 ecosystem and MAVLink.You will join an established team under a Team Lead, with senior engineers owning architecture. You write software across the sUAS stack: flight control integration, on-board payloads, and the ground segment.What you will do• Develop and maintain C++ software running on Group 1-2 sUAS platforms and Pixels-integrated payloads• Build against ArduPilot/PX4 and MAVLink for flight control integration and telemetry• Develop ROS/ROS 2 nodes for on-board sensing, data collection, and payload control• Support hardware-in-the-loop testing and flight test events with our pilots and engineersRequired• BS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering• 3 to 5 years of professional software development experience• Embedded C++ shipped on real, resource-constrained hardware• Strong Linux systems fluency• Hands-on ROS or ROS 2 development experience• Working familiarity with ArduPilot or PX4 and MAVLink• US citizenship• On-site at our Sunrise, FL headquartersStrongly preferred• Rust proficiency• Deep autopilot internals experience (ArduPilot or PX4 contribution a plus)• MS or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or RoboticsWhat sets you apart• On-target inference deployment: CUDA, TensorRT, model optimization on SWaP-constrained hardware• Ground control station development experienceWhy Pixels: the loop from your commit to a flight test is measured in weeks, and what you build reaches the soldiers who use it.
