Our teams work closely with trading, risk, and front-office technology organizations to modernize critical platforms, enhance analytics capabilities, and support complex financial product ecosystems.Position Overview:We are seeking an experienced Senior Python API Developer to design and build high-performance backend services supporting modern enterprise applications. This role will focus on developing scalable APIs, implementing efficient distributed system architectures, and ensuring high reliability and performance in production environments.The ideal candidate will have strong experience building Python-based microservices and APIs, with a deep understanding of asynchronous programming, distributed systems, and modern DevOps practices. This role requires collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver high-quality, production-ready solutions.Key Responsibilities:API Development & Backend EngineeringDesign, develop, and maintain high-performance APIs using Python and modern API frameworks.Build scalable backend services following RESTful API design principles and industry best practices.Implement asynchronous programming techniques to improve system performance and responsiveness.Distributed Systems & Performance OptimizationDevelop services that interact with distributed system components such as caching layers, message queues, and API gateways.Implement distributed caching strategies to improve performance and scalability.Optimize services for reliability, throughput, and low-latency performance. Architecture & Code QualityWrite modular, reusable, and testable code that adheres to enterprise coding standards.Apply software design patterns and architectural best practices when developing backend services.Conduct code reviews and contribute to improving development standards and practices. DevOps & CI/CDWork with engineering teams to integrate services into CI/CD pipelines for automated testing, builds, and deployments.Support environment configuration management and deployment automation.Monitoring, Observability & TroubleshootingImplement logging, monitoring, and performance tracking to ensure system reliability.Troubleshoot performance bottlenecks and production issues in distributed environments.Collaboration & DocumentationWork closely with product managers, engineers, and infrastructure teams to deliver new features and enhancements.Produce clear technical documentation for APIs, services, and system components.Participate in Agile development processes and collaborate using modern project management tools. Required Qualifications:7-10+ years of strong experience developing high-performance APIs using Python and modern web frameworks.Deep understanding of RESTful API design principles and service-oriented architecture.Experience with asynchronous programming in Python.Familiarity with API gateway concepts, including routing, throttling, and request/response transformation.Experience implementing distributed caching solutions such as Redis or similar technologies.Experience working with message queues or event-driven architectures in distributed systems.Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment.Strong experience writing clean, modular, reusable, and testable code.Knowledge of software design patterns such as Factory, Singleton, and Dependency Injection.Experience writing technical documentation and API specifications.Experience working within Agile development environments.Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.Preferred Qualifications:Experience implementing authentication and authorization mechanisms for secure APIs.Familiarity with streaming APIs or WebSocket protocols.Experience using performance profiling tools to identify and resolve bottlenecks.Experience with observability and monitoring frameworks including distributed tracing, metrics, and logging.Familiarity with log aggregation and performance monitoring platforms.Experience managing environment-specific configurations and secrets management.**The base salary range for this role is $140,000 - $200,000, with flexibility for exceptional candidates**Benefits:Choice of medical, dental, vision insurance.Voluntary benefits.Short- and long-term disability.HSA and FSAs.Matching 401k.Discretionary performance bonus.Employee referral bonus.Employee assistance program.11 public holidays.20 days PTO.7 Sick Days.
