Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients. The Senior Engineer utilizes their expertise to provide technical oversight on renewable energy projects, serve as trusted advisors to clients, and actively engage with Lead Engineers to navigate complex conversations and situations effectively. Senior Engineers are recognized as Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in their field. They handle project design and mentor team members through their project work. They concentrate on discovering innovative solutions that enhance efficiency and reduce errors, driving project completion in a quicker, smarter, and more effective way. A Senior Engineer's dedication to fostering a collaborative environment and promoting professional development significantly contributes to the organization's success.Technical ExpertiseServe as an SME, providing technical oversight and design support for renewable energy projects by:Analyzing complex projects to identify design requirements, uncertainties, and constraintsUnderstanding client interests and developing approaches to address these concernsIdentifying project situations that present high risks or scope gapsOffering solutions to design teams to mitigate risksUtilizing relevant skills or expertise to assist projects and team members with design challengesStaying updated on changes to standards, regulations, and best practicesConfidently providing design teams with technical input, mentorship, and on-the-job trainingActively participate in detailed project design. Design activities include:Serving as the Engineer of Record (EOR) in a responsible role on projectsPerforming complete design for challenging, complex, or high-risk projectsProviding active design support for ongoing projectsProactively coordinating with design teams to review and deliver feedback on designsReviewing project documents for compliance with standards and quality assuranceAssisting with project construction by addressing contractor and owner inquiries, including RFIs and submittal reviewsAssist with official communication on specific assignments/meetingsCoordinate technical activities and designs with personnel in other disciplines and departmentsCollaborate with and support teams in other offices to optimize workload distributionQualityProactively coordinate directly with design teams to review and provide feedback on designs for multiple concurrent projectsProvide EOR oversight of design tasks and final EOR review on assigned projectsReview complete project documents for conformity and quality assuranceIdentify project circumstances that are high-risk or scope gapsProvide design teams with solutions to mitigate riskStaff DevelopmentEngage actively with Lead Engineers to offer mentorship on complex conversations and situationsIdentify growth and learning opportunities for project teamsPrepare and deliver organized technical training to the ServiceActively participate in staff mentorship and training programsIdentify opportunities for innovation and process enhancementsCollaborate with internal stakeholders to initiate and execute process enhancementsAdvise Service leadership on strategies to enhance team satisfaction and performanceBusiness Development SupportSupport positive interactions with clients and directly coordinate with themAct as the primary technical expert for clientsAssist Market Directors as needed with marketing efforts and the creation of marketing materialsProvide clients with accurate design deliverables that align closely with contract requirementsRespond to client requests promptlySuccess MeasuresRegarded as an SME within the companyRegarded as a trusted technical advisor by clientsActively participating in the training program as a trainerContinually seeking innovative solutions to enhance efficiency and reduce errorsEngaging in project design while providing mentorship through your project workActively collaborating with Lead Engineers to support mentorship effortsIdentifying growth and learning opportunities for project teamsQualifications8+ years of experience. Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET/EAC-accredited program. Master's degree or equivalent (optional).
