This role requires attention to safety, and the ability to work in outdoor and industrial environments.Principal AccountabilitiesPerform & maintain general housekeeping.Sort and separate metals (e.g., ferrous vs. non-ferrous) according to type and gradeAssist with preparing scrap materials for shipmentMaintain cleanliness and organization of the work siteFollow proper safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)Qualifications/ExperienceHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.Forklift certifiedMust be able to comfortably wear all Personal Protective Equipment. (I.e. Uniforms, Safety glasses, Steel Toed Shoes, Hard hat, etc.)Previous experience in a recycling, scrap, or industrial environment preferredAbility to lift 40 lbs. and perform physical labor in outdoor or industrial conditionsBasic knowledge of metal types (training provided if necessary)SkillsAbility to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.Ability to follow safety guidelines and standard operating proceduresDependable, punctual, and able to work as part of a teamWorking ConditionsPrimarily warehouse environment with exposure to noise, dust, and heavy equipment.Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs, climb, bend, and work in physically demanding conditions.Occasional weekend or extended hours may be required depending on business needs.A career with Sims provides you with the opportunity to work with an organization whose goal is to be the world’s safest and most responsible recycling company.
