Senior Java Backend Engineer (AWS, Microservices) Location: Seattle, WA Engagement: 1099 Contract Work Authorization: Only U.S. Citizens or Green Card holders will be considered Job Description We are looking for a seasoned Senior Java Backend Engineer with strong experience in AWS and Microservices to support a retail/logistics-focused enterprise client. This is a client-facing role, collaborating closely with business and technical stakeholders. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience 10+ years of overall IT experience 8+ years of hands-on Java/J2EE development Strong experience with Spring Boot, Hibernate 3+ years of AWS experience Hands-on experience building microservices Experience with REST/SOAP services Strong SQL and relational database skills Solid understanding of Agile, SDLC, CI/CD Experience using AI tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Retail, CPG, or Logistics domain experience required Nice to Have Apache Kafka Docker, Kubernetes CI/CD pipelines AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, CloudFormation, CloudWatch) Git version control Production support and global delivery experience Key Responsibilities Work directly with clients and business users Design, develop, test, and support backend features Ensure quality, performance, and scalability Communicate status, risks, and progress effectively Job Type: Contract Pay: $55.00 - $65.00 per hour Expected hours: 45 per week Work Location: In person
