Material HandlerLocation: Houston, TX 77039Duration: 6 months (Contract to Permanent)Rate Range: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour on W2Shift: Monday - Friday from 7:00 am 3:30 pmJob DescriptionAs a member of the stockroom team, ensures timely delivery of materials throughout the plant in order to meet production needs; under the direction of the Materials Manager and Inventory Control Supervisor.Job ResponsibilitiesMaintain appropriate stocking of Kanban parts throughout the plant in order to meet production needsCollect, refill and return empty Kanban bins to the assembly department on a regularly scheduled basisPull and kit parts for orders as neededAssist with Daily Cycle CountsUse forklifts, motorized carts, pallet jacks and hand trucks in a safe manner to move materials around plant as requiredAssist in other Stockroom, Shipping & Receiving duties as requiredPerforms other duties as assignedWork overtime as requiredMust HaveHigh School diploma or GEDRelevant work experienceEffective communication skills: verbal and written (English)Follow written and/or oral instructions in EnglishAble to lift parts weighing in excess of 50 pounds (assistance when needed) and to work in bending, squatting and standing positions (includes working off ladders) for long periods of time (in excess of one hour)Pass forklift certifications and requirements to operate forkliftsPreferred SkillsOracle and/or MS Office experiencePreviously working in materials or inventory control with hands-on experiencePrevious material handling or warehouse experienceKnowledge of computer programs: Client Office preferred
