Correctional OfficerUnder supervision, maintains custody and security of prisoners and other incarcerated offenders and maintains order in correctional institutions and other places of detention.Shift: 7pm-7am Day shiftLocation: Eastman, GA (Dodge County)Job responsibilities include:Enforcing all institutional policies, rules, procedures, and regulations.Enforcing rules, regulations, and state laws necessary for control and management of offenders and the maintenance of public safety.Escorting offenders in transit and during temporary leaves.Guarding facility entrances in order to screen visitors.Inspecting, inventorying, maintaining physical control of, logging keys, tools, weapons and related equipment.Maintaining order, discipline, and security within assigned areas in accordance with relevant rules, regulations, policies and laws.Observing conduct and behavior of offenders to prevent disturbances and escapes.Overseeing offenders during work assignments, meals, and recreation periods.Patrolling assigned areas and reporting any problems.Preparing admission, program, releases, transfers and other reports.Responding to emergencies.Taking offenders in custody and escorting to locations within and outside of the facility.Transporting offenders to and from correctional facilities.Preferred qualifications include Georgia P.O.S.T. certification as a corrections officer or jailer, with status of Active and In Good Standing.Additional information: Selected applicant must meet the following standards:Must pass a pre-employment background check (which includes criminal records check, driver's history, and verification of work history) and a post-hire federal background investigation.Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test and will be placed in the pool for the State Random Drug Testing Program.Eligible to work in the U.S.Able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.High School and College Degrees Must Be From an Accredited InstitutionHigh school diploma or GED AND any combination of training and experience which would enable the applicant to meet the minimum standards of the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council (P.O.S.T.)
