They assess, monitor, and treat patients with acute medical conditions and injuries, ensuring prompt and effective care in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment. The ER Nurse works closely with doctors, specialists, and other healthcare staff to deliver patient-centered care while maintaining safety, efficiency, and compassion.\nKey Responsibilities:\n\n\nPatient Assessment:\n\nTriage patients based on the severity of their condition and prioritize care accordingly.\nPerform thorough physical assessments and obtain detailed medical histories from patients.\nMonitor vital signs, laboratory results, and patient status, identifying changes and responding appropriately.\n\n\n\nEmergency Care and Treatment:\n\nAdminister prescribed medications, treatments, and interventions as directed by the physician.\nProvide wound care, assist with procedures, and manage trauma or critical care patients.\nPrepare patients for diagnostic tests, surgeries, or other procedures as required.\nEnsure proper documentation of all treatments, medications, and patient interactions in the electronic medical record (EMR).\n\n\n\nCollaboration and Communication:\n\nWork in collaboration with physicians, nurse practitioners, paramedics, and other healthcare professionals to provide coordinated care.\nEffectively communicate with patients and their families about diagnoses, treatment plans, and expected outcomes.\nAssist with educating patients on follow-up care, preventive measures, and any necessary lifestyle adjustments.\n\n\n\nCrisis Management:\n\nRespond to medical emergencies quickly and effectively, providing advanced life support (ALS) when needed.\nTake swift action in the event of cardiac arrest, trauma, or other urgent health conditions.\nManage life-threatening situations with a calm demeanor, ensuring the safety and stability of patients.\n\n\n\nPatient Advocacy and Support:\n\nAdvocate for patients by ensuring they receive timely and appropriate care.\nProvide emotional support to patients and families during stressful situations.\nMaintain patient privacy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.\n\n\n\nCompliance and Safety:\n\nAdhere to all hospital and department policies, protocols, and standards of care.\nEnsure that all equipment is properly sterilized and maintained.\nFollow infection control guidelines to reduce the risk of hospital-acquired infections.\n\n\n\nEducation and Professional Development:\n\nStay updated with the latest trends, guidelines, and best practices in emergency nursing care.\nParticipate in continuing education programs, workshops, and other training to maintain certifications and expand clinical knowledge.\nMentor and guide new nurses and students within the department.\n\n\n\nQualifications:\n\nEducation:\n\nBachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required.\n\n\nLicensure:\n\nCurrent state RN license in good standing.\nCertification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required.\nTrauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications preferred.\n\n\nSkills:\n\nStrong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.\nAbility to remain calm and focused in high-stress situations.\nProficient in using medical equipment, including monitors, defibrillators, and IV pumps.\nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with patients, families, and team members.\n\n\n\nWorking Conditions:\n\nWork in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment with potential exposure to infectious diseases, trauma, and other health hazards.\nAbility to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.\nPhysical demands may include standing for long periods, lifting heavy objects, and responding quickly in emergencies.\n\nBenefits:\n\nHealth, dental, and vision insurance.\nRetirement savings plan.\nContinuing education reimbursement and certification support.\nWellspring Nurse Source Job ID #36783847.
