The City is seeking a Temporary Landscape Maintenance Technician to support our This position involves performing basic landscape and grounds maintenance, assisting with tree care, and helping with clean-up and special projects across City properties. We are seeking an enthusiastic, dependable individual who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in their environment, and is eager to contribute to a team dedicated to keeping our public spaces safe, clean, and welcoming.Assignment Duration: Approximately four to six months, however the exact duration is unknown.Schedule: Full-time, 9/80 schedule; Monday - Thursday, 6:30 am to 4:00 pm, and every other Friday, 6:30 am to 3:00 pmThis position is being filled through a staffing agency. Please send inquiries/resumes directly to:Typical DutiesPerform basic landscape and grounds maintenance on City property, including raking, chipping, moving brush, and general clean-upAssist with tree and vegetation work by clearing debris and supporting pruning and trimming activitiesPerform manual labor such as digging, lifting, loading, and transporting tools, materials, and green wasteSet up, move, and remove cones, barricades, and signage to establish safe work zonesOperate basic hand tools and equipment (e.g., rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows, backpack blowers, chippers) under supervisionAssist with traffic and pedestrian control when working in streets, medians, parkways, or rights-of-waySupport special projects, emergency response, and City events as assignedFollow all safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipmentInteract professionally with the public and refer questions or concerns to appropriate City staffEmployment Standards & Special RequirementsKnowledge of:Standard landscape and grounds maintenance practices, techniques, equipment, and materialsOccupational hazards and safety precautions, including the proper use of personal protective equipmentSafe handling of chemicals and basic pest control rulesBasic fertilization practices for plants, shrubs, and treesOperation and minor maintenance of hand and power tools, vehicles, and equipment used in landscape maintenanceApplicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulationsBasic record keeping and arithmeticAbility to:Perform physically demanding outdoor workSet up and maintain safe work zones, including cones, barricades, and traffic flagging as neededWork effectively with the public in a professional and courteous mannerUnderstand and follow oral and written instructionsIdentify materials and supplies needed for tasksSafely and skillfully use tools and equipment related to the workMaintain basic logs or records of work performedWork independently or as part of a team and maintain effective working relationshipsEducation and ExperienceAny combination of training and experience which would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying.
