Job : Project Engineer II Location: Grand Rapids, Saginaw, or Jackson, MI (Hybrid – 3 days onsite: Mon, Tue, Thu)Duration: Until May 2027 (with a possibility of extension)Openings: 2Job Overview:We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer II to support engineering and technical activities for Electric Distribution projects. This role will function as a Lead Project Engineer, working closely with project managers and cross-functional teams to plan, design, and execute complex projects, including substation rebuilds and economic development initiatives.The ideal candidate will ensure project quality, accuracy, and compliance from conception through completion while managing multiple engineering assignments.Key Responsibilities:Plan, schedule, coordinate, and monitor engineering projectsLead engineering tasks and support project managers in executionCoordinate work between internal teams, external engineers, vendors, and contractorsReview engineering deliverables and implement corrective actionsEnsure compliance with codes, standards, QA/QC policies, and specificationsDevelop technical specifications for project equipmentSupport Agile project delivery and manage timelines effectivelyMentor team members and assign responsibilitiesBuild strong relationships with stakeholders and business partnersRequired Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (ABET accredited)(OR non-ABET degree with Professional Engineering (PE) license)5–7 years of experience in a Project Engineer roleMinimum 5 years of experience on complex engineering projectsStrong experience coordinating internal and external engineering disciplinesKnowledge of engineering design tools (e.g., AutoCAD)Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skillsExperience in contract management and engineering deliverablesPreferred Qualifications:Background in Electric Distribution or substation projectsElectrical Engineering background (preferred, not required)Knowledge of Project Management tools (Unifier, ProjectWise)Understanding of project management principles
