Job Description What you'll do:Assist with training and onboarding of new teammates.Maintain product knowledge to inform guests of daily specials, answer questions about menu items, and make recommendations upon requestAdhere to state liquor laws and regulations; verify minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beveragesExplain how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients and cooking methodsDescribe and recommend wine and specialty beverages to guestsTake food and beverage orders, enter them into the POS system, and send them to the kitchenServe food and beverages to guests, preparing and garnishing dishes as requiredSee to each guest's special needs, including any allergies or dietary restrictionsPrepare and maintain table setting for courses, including setting up items such as linens, silverware, and glasswareAssist with running food and beverages, clearing tables, and escorting guests as neededEnsure immediate response is given to guest comments and concerns; inform immediate supervisor and apply corrective measures when necessaryManage order times and inform guests and management of any delays in serviceMaintain revenue by preparing checks that itemize total costs + sales taxes and collect accurate payments from guestsRemove dishes and glassware from tables or counters, and take them to the kitchen for cleaningClean tables or counters after guests have finished dining as neededStock service areas with dining supplies such as plates, utensils, glassware, and linensWho you are:You have state-issued food handling + beverage certifications as required.You have 6+ months of related experience in the hospitality industry.You can speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) of the workplace.You are able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.You can speak effectively after guests and groups of co-workers.You can navigate and operate computer and Point of Sale (POS) systems.You can apply concepts of math including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.BENEFITSWe are proud to offer competitive wages and the following benefits for full-time employees:Up to 3 weeks paid time off annually50% off discount at most New Waterloo restaurantsHealth, vision + dental benefits401K matchingPaid holidaysVolunteer payTuition reimbursementReferral bonusesDiscounts at our shops, hotels + local partnershipsABOUT NEW WATERLOONew Waterloo is a community-centric independent hospitality company based in Austin, Texas.
