Audit Manager
We are looking for an experienced Audit Manager to lead and execute performance audits that evaluate program efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance for a public sector organization in the Raleigh/Durham, NC area. This contract role will play a critical part in driving accountability, identifying process improvements, and supporting data-driven decision-making across the organization. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity offering a hybrid work environment and the ability to make a meaningful impact within the public sector.Key Responsibilities:Lead and manage performance audit engagements from planning through reportingEvaluate program operations for efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance with regulations and policiesDevelop audit scopes, methodologies, and risk assessments aligned with government auditing standards (e.g., Yellow Book/GAGAS)Analyze processes, internal controls, and operational data to identify gaps, risks, and improvement opportunitiesPrepare clear, concise, and actionable audit reports and presentations for leadership and stakeholdersPartner cross-functionally with agency leadership to implement recommendations and track outcomesSupervise and mentor audit staff or project teams, as applicableEnsure audits are completed on time and in accordance with applicable standards and agency guidelinesWhy This Opportunity:Opportunity to contribute to high-impact public sector initiativesExposure to leadership and strategic decision-making processesPotential for full-time conversion with a stable, mission-driven organizationHybrid work flexibilityRequirements:• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Public Administration, or a related discipline.• At least 5 years of audit experience, including responsibility for leading engagements or supervising audit work.• Demonstrated ability to analyze complex issues, solve problems, and develop clear written audit documentation.• Strong communication skills with the ability to present information effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.• Experience in government, public sector, or other highly regulated environments is preferred.• Certifications such as CISA or similar audit-related credentials are preferred.Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
