Technical Designer III - Industrial
NELSON is currently seeking a Technical Designer III to join our Industrial Practice. The Technical Designer III is responsible for developing, organizing, and executing the development of construction documents utilizing creativity, foresight and judgment to meet project requirements and objectives through project completion. Other duties may be assigned:Lead, facilitate and manage the overall design process for moderately complex projects independently and support larger complex projects under supervision.Contribute to developing fee proposals.Develop innovative design concepts which are practical, aesthetic, safe and conducive to intended purposes and function which is reflective of client goals and within project budget.Selection and specification of materials, products, and architectural systems.Support the Project Manager in establishing project goals and objectives including workplan, schedule, budget parameters.Assists Project Manager in sub-contracting or the coordination of sub-consultant’s work.Serve as team lead in keeping the project, or a phase of a project, on schedule in conjunction with Project ManagerResponsible for communication and coordination of other disciplines, vendors, and contractors to ensure incorporation of all information into project requirements and provides support as necessary.Lead the Construction Administration phase responding to RFI’s, CO’s, reviewing shop drawings and involved in the field site reviews.Ensure project documentation is compliant with NELSON standard for all projects and processes.May assist with negotiating fees and sub-contracts.Develops solutions to technical and design problems following established standards.Prepares 2D and 3D presentation/design drawings.Provide research and compile data during project phases.Prepare and modify interior architectural documents, elevations, sections, details, etc.Supports the team in collecting information for client assessment; may attend interviews, provide documentation support.Conduct design charrettes and lead project team meetingsComplete timesheet and expense reports accurately and on-timeRequired Knowledge And Skills:Advanced knowledge of design, trends, construction methodology, materials application and manufacturer-supplier appropriateness; consistently share such knowledge with teammatesAdvanced knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and modelsAdvanced knowledge of furniture, fixture and equipment (FF&E), architectural/interior finishes, lighting, art signage, color and materials to carryout design intentAdvanced knowledge of sustainability, integrated design and LEED guidelinesKnowledge of expectations related to high quality service to clientsGood understanding of building regulations, life safety codes and ADA requirementsGood understanding of the construction processGood understanding of project budgets and schedulesGood knowledge of the construction process as it relates to the drawings being producedAbility to hand draw and sketchAbility to communicate effectively. both verbally and in writingAbility to organize and prioritize tasks as needed to complete within the identified time frameAbility to manage time working to project deadlinesBasic knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketchup, and InDesign graphic software preferredBasic proficiency in Deltek Vision / Vantagepoint is preferredProficiency in AutoCAD/Architectural Desktop and Revit is requiredQualifications:Bachelor’s degree in: Architecture, Architectural Drafting, or related field 8+ years' experience; or equivalent in appropriate education and experience working in the field of ArchitectureProficiency in both Revit and AutoCAD is requiredNational salary range (8+ years experience): $70,000-$110,000 (regional cost of living factors, certification, etc. are considered into the hiring process). Additional compensation includes bonuses and benefits.
