RN - Med Surg - Contract - MSW

Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Medical Surgical UnitLocation: New York City, NY 10019Duration: 13 Weeks (Contract)Shift: 3x12-Hour Shifts (Days/Nights) with every other weekend and holiday rotationKey ResponsibilitiesProvide safe, high-quality patient care using the nursing process, evidence-based practice, and organizational nursing standards.Assess, monitor, and evaluate patient conditions while applying critical thinking in care management.Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans.Educate patients and caregivers regarding treatment plans, health promotion, disease prevention, and discharge planning.Perform patient rounding, bedside shift reports, and medication reviews to support patient-centered care.Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with hospital, regulatory, and legal standards.Promote patient safety by identifying risks, escalating concerns, and following institutional safety protocols.Participate in quality improvement initiatives, evidence-based practice activities, and peer review processes.Manage assignments within the care delivery model and delegate tasks appropriately.Support unit operations including patient throughput, resource utilization, and charge nurse duties when assigned.Required QualificationGraduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program.Minimum 2 years of RN experience.Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience.Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills.Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary healthcare team.Current CertificationsNew York State RN License (Active)Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association (AHA)Preferred Qualifications1 year of travel nursing experience (required for travel positions).EPIC electronic medical record experience highly preferred.Previous experience in a similar high-volume Med/Surg unit.Experience working with a 1:5 patient ratio in a 30 34 bed unit.Distance RequirementMust live 50 miles or more away from the facility.
