Land Surveyor in Training (LSIT)

About This Role: Cardinal is seeking an LSIT to join our dynamic and growing team. As an LSIT, you will be responsible for proper scheduling, budget, contract, and client interaction for all projects in your service area.ResponsibilitiesAs an LSIT, you will assist the LS:Oversee the production department of surveyors and CAD Techs.Schedule fieldwork, office work, and project deliverables.Establish deadlines, assign responsibilities, and monitor and summarize the progress of projects.Prepare work plans, assemble project teams, delegate tasks, and ensure compliance with the scope and timely completion.Responsible for accuracy, timeliness, and financial performance of assigned projects.Develop and maintain relationships with existing and new clients.Evaluate policy and procedures to ensure all deliverables are done accurately and using the most efficient method.Responsible for survey calculations, analysis and final map checking, review of title data, record drawings research, and client relations.Collaborate with project team members, including other licensed surveyors, engineers, and technical and survey staff.Review and process the results of field surveys, including the shape, contour, location, elevation, and dimensions of land features and structures.Verify the accuracy of field survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites.Ensure Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes. Acting safely at all times.Maintain firm standards for the preparation of survey and mapping documents.Provide technical direction and oversight to survey staff regarding approach and resolution of office/field conflicts.Assist field crews with field work as neededQualificationsEDUCATION: Graduation from high school or GED. equivalent is required. Additional college coursework or apprenticeship is highly desirable. An advanced degree is preferred.EXPERIENCE: Minimum of five years of land surveying experience and has earned their LSIT or is qualified to take LSIT exam.KnowledgeCivil 3D, preferredCarlson Civil Suites – IntelliCAD, preferredOffice management practices and proceduresClient communication and customer service via email, phone, or in-personProject and field crew staff management and evaluationGovernment, Commercial, Residential and Retail ProjectsSokkia, Trimble Total Station, Data CollectorsDrone experience, preferredMathematical Calculations, Measurement ErrorsCertifications / LicensesValid driver's license with insurable recordLSIT preferredSkills / AbilitiesMust have essential requirements: professionalism, punctuality, and reliability.Must have strong attention to detail with excellent analytical capabilities.Must have the ability to plan, organize, and prioritize multiple projects.Must read and interpret field notes, engineering plans, and construction documents.Must perform deed and utility research and compile record information such as record maps, legal descriptions, utility information, and right of way data.Must perform calculations and instructions for fieldwork and construction stakeout.Must provide solutions to civil site design challenges.Physical RequirementsThe physical demands described herein are representative of those that an employee must meet to perform the essential function of this job successfully:Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move 25/50/80 pounds regularly/occasionally.Must be able to drive a vehicle safely.Must be able to work in inclement weather.Must be able to deal effectively and reasonably with stress in the workplace without lost time or undue strain.Must be able to sit, walk, talk, and hear for extended periods of time.Must be able to type/key-in data and answer telephones frequently as needed.Must have specific vision abilities, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to focus.Must be able to see and respond to dangerous situations.Must be able to wear personal protective gear regularly/occasionally.Physical ability includes bending, squatting, reaching, stretching, sitting, standing, running, and climbing stairs.Must adhere to company policies, safety plan, and the project safety plan.About UsCardinal Civil Resources ("CCR") is a fun, productive business dedicated to the success of our employees, clients, and our communities.
