Apply via Dice today!Position OverviewThe Virginia Office of the Attorney General (OAG) is seeking Systems Administrators to support a secure, stable, and high-performing hybrid IT infrastructure environment. This is a hands-on technical role responsible for administering enterprise systems across both on-premises and cloud platforms.The Systems Administrator will support operational activities including patch management, system maintenance, monitoring, backup/recovery, and infrastructure support while collaborating closely with Infrastructure, Security, Networking, End User Services, and Application teams.The role operates under the direction of the Director of Infrastructure & Operations and follows structured governance and operational processes to maintain secure and reliable IT services.Key ResponsibilitiesInfrastructure AdministrationAdminister Windows Server environments (on-premises and cloud)Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCPSupport Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online and Entra ID/Azure ADMaintain system performance, configuration, and availabilityPatch Management & Vulnerability RemediationExecute structured patching for servers and enterprise systemsCoordinate maintenance windows and scheduling activitiesSupport vulnerability remediation initiativesValidate patches before deploymentTrack compliance and remediation statusSecurity & ComplianceImplement security controls and hardening standardsSupport MFA and identity/access management processesAssist with logging, monitoring, and audit activitiesSupport compliance and governance initiativesMonitoring & Incident ManagementMonitor systems and respond to alerts/incidentsProvide Tier 2/3 infrastructure supportParticipate in incident escalation and root cause analysisSupport operational improvements and service stabilityBackup & Disaster RecoveryAdminister backup/recovery solutionsPerform restore validation and recovery testingSupport RTO/RPO objectivesChange Management & OperationsFollow established change management proceduresParticipate in CAB/governance processesExecute infrastructure changes in controlled environmentsCross-Team CollaborationPartner with Network Engineering, Security, and Application teamsCoordinate infrastructure support for enterprise applicationsCommunicate operational risks, issues, and status updatesRequired QualificationsExperience administering Windows Server environmentsStrong Active Directory and Group Policy experienceExperience supporting Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, Entra ID/Azure AD)Experience with patch management and system maintenanceFamiliarity with backup and disaster recovery solutionsBasic networking knowledge and troubleshootingPreferred QualificationsExperience in government or regulated environmentsExperience with hybrid infrastructure (Azure + on-prem)Familiarity with NIST or similar security frameworksExperience with VMware or Hyper-VExposure to SIEM, monitoring, or endpoint management toolsKnowledge, Skills & AbilitiesStrong troubleshooting and analytical skillsAbility to manage multiple operational prioritiesStrong communication and collaboration skillsAbility to follow governance and operational proceduresFocus on security, reliability, and continuous improvementWorking ConditionsOffice-based environmentOccasional after-hours support for maintenance activitiesLimited travel between office locations may be required
