Software Engineer

Job Summary:GGHC is seeking a backend-focused Software Engineer to join the IT Innovation team. This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives in an environment with high ownership and direct business impact—designing, building, and operating internal platforms and integrations that support portfolio management, trading workflows, and firm operations. You will work closely with front office stakeholders and partner with a junior frontend engineer, with the backend as your primary focus.Key Responsibilities:Backend Engineering: Design, build, and maintain production-grade services using .NET/C# with strong emphasis on reliability, scalability, and security.Event-Driven Systems: Develop and operate event-driven workflows using AWS Lambda, EventBridge, Step Functions, SQS/SNS (as applicable) with attention to retries, idempotency, and observability.Data & Persistence: Design and maintain data models and integrations using Aurora PostgreSQL; build robust data pipelines and integration patterns across internal systems.Systems Strategy: Contribute to architecture and long-term technical improvements across performance, security, resiliency, and maintainability.Infrastructure & Delivery: Define infrastructure as code using AWS CDK, and maintain CI/CD pipelines via GitHub Actions.Business Collaboration: Partner with Portfolio Managers, Traders, and Operations to translate complex workflows into high-performance technical solutions in a regulated environment.Quality & Operations: Write clean, well-tested code; perform deep-dive debugging; maintain clear technical documentation and runbooks.Frontend Collaboration (Secondary): Partner with a junior frontend engineer; review integration points and API usage (React experience is a plus, not required).Required Skills and Qualifications:Strong software engineering fundamentals (data structures, system design, testing, performance).Proficiency in C#/.NET and experience owning backend services in production.Hands-on experience building and deploying on AWS, ideally with serverless and distributed systems patterns.Experience with relational databases—PostgreSQL strongly preferred (Aurora a plus).Experience integrating via REST APIs and working across internal/external systems.Demonstrated ability to own complex features from ideation through production with minimal supervision.Ability to communicate effectively with both technical peers and non-technical stakeholders.Bachelor’s degree required (or equivalent practical experience).Preferred Qualifications:Experience in financial services (broker-dealer, RIA, trading, OMS, portfolio/investment systems) or other regulated environments.Experience with Salesforce integrations and/or ETL/data integration patterns.React experience (helpful for code review and collaboration).Strong observability mindset (logging, metrics, tracing, alerting) and operational excellence.Experience:Preferred: 5+ years of relevant engineering experienceMinimum: 3+ years with clear evidence of end-to-end ownership in production systems Salary range $140,000 – $185,000
