Electrical Project Engineer
Wag’n Tails is looking for a skilled and motivated Electrical Project Engineer to join our growing engineering team in the mobile grooming and vet industry. This role is responsible for designing, planning, and executing electrical systems integration for custom vehicle upfits. You’ll ensure that all electrical components within the vehicle – from lighting and communications to power distribution – are installed safely, efficiently and in compliance with industry standards. This is your chance to grow with a company leading the way in mobile pet grooming and veterinary solutions.What You'll Do:Lead electrical engineering efforts for vehicle upfit projects, including design, specification and integration of electrical systems. Collaborate with design, fabrication, and installation teams to ensure seamless execution of electrical components.Develop wiring diagrams, schematics, and layout plans tailored to specific vehicle platforms and customer requirements.Design and evaluate both 12V DC and 120V AC systems, performing in-depth electrical calculations and validating designs though empirical testing to ensure reliability, safety, and performance in mobile applications.Select and specify electrical components such as inverters, batteries, lighting systems, control modules, and harnesses.Ensure compliance with DOT, SAE, NFPA and other applicable standards.Conduct testing and troubleshooting of installed systems to ensure functionality and safety.Takes a hands on approach with practical application, demonstrating flexibility to troubleshoot and solve problems that span multiple engineering disciplines in a fast-paced, real-world environment.Manage project timelines, budgets, and documentation related to electrical engineering tasks.What We're Looking For:Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field3+ years of experience in electrical design, preferably in automotive or vehicle upfit environments.Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCad, Solidworks, etc.) and electrical modeling tools.Strong understanding of vehicle electrical systems, including DC and AC power distribution.Familiarity with regulatory standards and safety codes relevant to vehicle modifications.Excellent communication and project management skills.Ability to work in a fast-paced, hands-on environment with cross-functional teams.The Ideal Candidate:Passionate about vehicles and electrical innovation.Detail-oriented with a strong focus on safety and quality.Comfortable working hands-on with vehicles and installation/production teams.Thrives in a collaborative environment and takes ownership of project outcomes.Perks and Benefits:Competitive base salary with performance-based bonusesComprehensive benefits package including FREE medical coverage for employee (employee paid family plans also available), 401(k) with a company match, and generous PTOEmployee perks and discounts through provider programsOpportunity for advancement as the engineering department and the company continues to growHands-on training from industry experts with backgrounds in automotive, RV, and consumer productsJoin a company with 30+ years of leadership in mobile pet service conversionsWhy Wag’n Tails?We’re not just a vehicle manufacturer—we help people launch their dreams.
