Role Overview
FlyteHealth is seeking a Senior Health Economist with deep experience in Commercial, Medicare and Medicaid populations to lead economic, outcomes, and population-level analyses across employer contracting, value-based and risk-bearing care models. This role blends health economics, epidemiology, and advanced data analytics to generate real-world evidence demonstrating clinical impact, and cost performance in complex, high-need populations.
The ideal candidate understands the structural, regulatory, and payment nuances of Traditional Medicare, Medicaid, and payor, and can translate data into insights that matter to employers, payors, regulators, and providers. The ideal candidate must combine strong technical depth with the ability to communicate insights clearly to clinical leaders, payors, employers, and investors.
Key Responsibilities
Outcomes Analyses
Lead cost, utilization, and outcomes analyses specific to Commercial, Medicare (FFS and MA) and Medicaid populations.
Evaluate program impact on total cost of care, avoidable admissions, readmissions, ED utilization, post-acute spend, and medication adherence.
Support economic evaluation for risk-based and value-based contracts, including PMPM, shared savings, and downside-risk arrangements.
Develop ROI analyses across commercial and CMS populations based on contracting
Incorporate Risk-contracting, CMS and state Medicaid policy considerations into analytic design and interpretation.
Develop longitudinal analyses to assess changes in total cost of care, avoidable utilization, and disease progression.
Epidemiology & Population Health
Apply epidemiologic methods to assess prevalence, risk stratification and outcomes across populations.
Lead observational study design (cohort, case-control, pre/post, matched controls).
Support development of clinical quality and outcomes metrics aligned with guidelines and contracts.
Data Analytics & Real-World Evidence
Partner with data engineering and analytics teams to structure, clean, and analyze healthcare datasets (claims, EHR, labs, biometrics, RPM data).
Build and validate analytic models
Ensure methodological rigor, transparency, and reproducibility of analyses.
Client, Commercial, and External Support
Translate complex analyses into clear, decision‑ready insights for employers, payors, and strategic partners.
Support sales and client teams with economic narratives, custom analyses, and reporting.
Contribute to white papers, peer‑reviewed publications, conference abstracts, and thought leadership.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with clinical, product, operations, and commercial leaders to inform program design and continuous improvement.
Provide economic input into pricing, contracting strategies, and value‑based arrangements.
Ensure alignment with regulatory, compliance, and data governance standards.
Qualifications
Required
PhD or Master’s degree in Health Economics, Actuarial Science, Economics, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Public Health, or a related field.
7+ years of experience in health economics, outcomes research, population health analytics, or a related role.
Deep experience working with real-world healthcare data (claims, EHR, or equivalent).
Strong quantitative and statistical skills; hands‑on experience with analytic tools (e.g., SQL, R, Python, SAS).
Demonstrated ability to communicate complex findings to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
Preferred
Experience in digital health, value‑based care, employer health, or payor environments.
Familiarity with cardiometabolic, chronic disease, or longitudinal care models.
Experience supporting commercial teams, pricing strategy, or client‑facing analytics.
Track record of publications, conference presentations, or externally facing research.
