Definition: This position provides safety and quality childcare for children placed in the care of the Recreation Division while the parents are participating in on-site recreation activities or classes. Principal Duties: • Interact with and monitor the safety of children dropped off for childcare. • Promote a safe, healthy and fun atmosphere in childcare. • Leads and instructs children in games and other activities. • Receives and greets parents and children, register children for childcare, answer questions regarding childcare guidelines. • Responsible for assisting with general maintenance and cleaning of childcare equipment and toys. • Takes proper safety precautions, anticipates unsafe circumstances, and acts accordingly to prevent accidents. • Contacts parents if a child is upset or ill. • Assist children in restroom facilities. • Fills out required forms for attendance, check in/out, etc. • Maintain inventory of supplies and makes recommendations of room needs. • Performs essential duties and additional tasks in a manner which enhances City Attributes. Working Environment: Work is performed either indoors or outdoors and involves exposure to hot and cold temperatures, direct sun and/or moderate to loud noise. This position will be required to work varied hours, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Requires the ability to lift children weighing up to seventy-five (75) pounds. Providing a safe and fun environment for the children requires a full range of physical abilities including standing, sitting, sitting on the floor, bending over, running, pushing, reading, drawing, singing, and picking up and holding children. Qualifications: Must possess general working knowledge of Recreation Center childcare operations. Previous work experience in supervising children in a similar childcare setting preferred. CPR/First Aid desirable. Must have within 3 months. Must be at least 16 years of age. We're committed to building a team that reflects the diversity of the communities we serve.
