Job description
About us
Practichem is disrupting biotech instruments to accelerate cures to the world’s toughest diseases. We’re making therapeutic protein purification faster and easier to get right. Arista protein purification instruments are collaborative. Openness encourages reuse, speeding development of vaccines and antibodies.
Practichem is led by experienced managers plus an experienced board. We’ve landed $6M in funding. We have a lot to do, and it’s doable. People are lining up for our product. We are flat, lean, and focused on results, and we always will be. We value integrity, determination, and courage.
Why this is important
Promising new drug therapies are likely to be biologic. They are highly targeted, which reduces side effects. Our instruments isolate these therapeutic proteins from others that are part of living cells.
We believe speeding antibody and vaccine development is a worthy endeavor. The common cold, arthritis, cancer, and many other terrible diseases are likely to be cured by biologic therapies. Practichem's tools help anyone execute a successful protein purification on the first try. This frees researchers to focus on curing diseases.
The role
This is an on site role at Practichem’s office downtown Raleigh, NC.
As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will own your product electrical designs. This must excite you. You must be curious and practical. You will be expected to challenge and be challenged. You will be creating and innovating, so you’ll have a direction and oversight, but implementation specifics will be up to you.
Final word from Nick: Fun
You must find your work rewarding. If you aren’t having fun at some level, you’ll become unhappy. What I do is hard, but I love it. I want you to love what you’re doing. If you ever find you don’t love what you’re doing, please talk to me. If we can, we'll fix it. Otherwise, we'll help you find something that better suits you.
