The Northern Navajo Medical Center located in Shiprock, New Mexico (Northwest NM-Navajo Nation) has an opening for 1 Family Medicine Physician to start June 29, 2020.Shiprock is specifically located in Northwest, New Mexico on the Navajo Reservation. Place of Performance: Services are to be performed under the Navajo Area IndianHealth Service (NAIHS), Shiprock Service Unit - Northern Navajo Medical Center (NNMC)within the State of New Mexico.Would fly to Albuquerque, New Mexico and stay in Farmington, New Mexico.Overview of Position:The Contractor shall provide outpatient and inpatient familypractice services in the delivery of patient care to the Indian Health Service.Specific tasks include the following:Family Practice Physician Duties:The Contractor shall perform outpatient and inpatient family practiceduties and manage patients needs as described in the (PD), identified by the ServiceUnit and as directed by Supervisor.The Contractor shall perform in accordance with the competency standardslisted in the Shiprock Service Unit Medical Staff By-Laws.The Contractor shall provide professional Family Practice Physician Services inthe delivery of direct patient care to the Indian Health Service. Specific tasksinclude the following:1.Contractor shall exercise and have knowledge of Family Practice Physician Servicesto outpatients and inpatient department at the Indian Health Service, NorthernNavajo Medical Center, Shiprock, New Mexico.2. Priority for selection shall be given to contractors who can work in the inpatientSetting.3. There are 21 physician members in the Family Medicine department and 9Physician Assistants organized as 3 Clinical Teams. Overall, contractor would workwith 1-4 physician(s) and/or physician assistants in the outpatient clinicTeam.4. The Outpatient Clinic includes same-day and continuity care clinics.5. Minor office surgery procedures may be performed.6. Inpatient includes Medical Surgical Ward, Pediatric Ward, Intensive Care Unit,Labor & Delivery/Post-partum Ward.7. Contractor could take night and/or weekend call approximately 2 to 3 times permonth. During call back hours the contractor shall cross-cover the inpatient FamilyMedicine service (4-12 admitted patients), perform emergency Departmentconsults, admit new patients to the hospital (0-3 admissions) and cover Labor andDelivery (0-2 deliveries/night). NNMC is a 60 inpatient bed facility.8. If contractor is caring for inpatient, he or she would round on inpatients asneeded.9. Contractor shall provide consultation with members of the Family Medicine staffon matters on patient care.10. Contractor shall review clinical records and adhere to records documentationprocedures to insure that records are properly maintained.11. Contactor may be subject to technical direction and/or guidance of the designatedGovernment official.12. Contractors provision of Family Medicine care shall be monitored by the NorthernNavajo Medical Centers quality assurance plan.
