Description:The Unit Helper works under the direction of the unit manager or charge nurse. This position involves performing the duties such asMakes unoccupied bedsTurns down and gets pads for unoccupied bedsStraightens out resident rooms to meet environmental standards.Passes fresh water in carafes.Pours ice water prior to meals.Transports residents to Activities, Dining Room, Podiatrist, Dentist, etc.Passes and prepares meal traysRecords Intake & Output (I&O) and percent of meal consumedAnswers call bells as directedProvides a safe, pleasant and clean environment for the residents at mealtimeCleans and washes wheelchairs as directedRequirements:REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITYShould be good at taking direction and following through with required tasks.Will be trained for the tasks outlined.ACCEPTABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCEExperience with working with the elderly is preferred.WORKING CONDITIONSThis job classification will involve occupational exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials.
