The Baltimore Tree Trust (BTT), the leading urban forestry nonprofit organization in Baltimore City, seeks a full-time Development Coordinator to join its Remington-based team. Established in 2008, BTT is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to enhance and protect Baltimore City’s urban tree canopy through strategic planting initiatives, broad-based engagement, and local workforce training. Position Summary
The Development Coordinator is an entry-level fundraising role that supports Baltimore Tree Trust’s individual giving, donor stewardship, and development operations. This position plays a key role in ensuring donors feel appreciated, informed, and connected to the organization’s mission to expand Baltimore’s urban tree canopy.
Reporting to the Senior Development Director, the Development Coordinator supports day-to-day development activities, including gift processing and acknowledgment, donor communications, events, and database management. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, mission-driven professional interested in building a career in nonprofit fundraising.
Responsibilities:
Gift Processing & Acknowledgment
Process donations and ensure timely, accurate acknowledgment of all gifts.
Prepare acknowledgment letters and emails, including personalized letters for leadership-level donors and special audiences, using established templates.
Complete gift acknowledgments within two business days of posting.
Update and maintain donor records, correspondence, and documentation in the CRM.
Share relevant gift information (restrictions, tribute details, reporting needs) with appropriate staff.
Assist with monthly reconciliation in collaboration with the Finance team.
Donor Stewardship & Communications Support
Support donor stewardship efforts by assisting with email, mail, phone, and text communications. Help prepare stewardship materials, impact updates, and meeting packets for donors, board members, and committees.
Assist with scheduling donor meetings and tracking follow-up tasks.
Collaborate with Development and Communications staff to support fundraising campaigns and donor engagement activities.
Provide administrative support to the Senior Development Director and CEO as needed.
Donor Recognition
Maintain donor recognition records, including the Annual Report donor list and other recognition materials.
Coordinate internal reviews to ensure donors are accurately and appropriately recognized.
Track naming opportunities and maintain related documentation and data.
Events & Engagement
Provide logistical support for donor engagement and fundraising events, including registration, attendee communications, and on-site staffing.
Assist with event preparation, set-up, tear-down, and post-event follow-up.
Support corporate sponsorship tracking and acknowledgments as needed.
May assist with donor engagement through volunteer or community-based events.
Development Operations & Administration
Generate routine reports on gifts, campaigns, and appeals.
Maintain data integrity across the CRM and online giving platforms.
Support direct mail and digital fundraising efforts, including list management, mail merges, and volunteer coordination.
Maintain development materials and publications, ensuring they are organized and current.
Research best practices in donor stewardship and fundraising operations.
Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience:
Required Attributes
1–2 years of fundraising, nonprofit, administrative, or customer-facing experience.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent attention to detail.
Comfort communicating with donors, volunteers, or external stakeholders.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Proficiency with Google Drive and willingness to learn CRM systems (experience with Bloomerang a plus).
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.

Compensation:
Salary Range: $50,000-$55,000 commensurate with experience
Full-time, exempt employee with some weekends or evening events required.
