Lead/Staff Software Engineer (Remote) - Ruby on Rails

About the Opportunity:The Lead/Staff Software Engineer role is responsible for setting the technical direction and architectural decisions for key product areas, with a focus on long-term scalability and performance. This position leads through hands-on expertise, mentors engineering teams, and collaborates with senior leaders to influence system design and development. The role significantly contributes to building sustainable, high-performing systems and supports engineers in delivering quality work.3. Responsibilities:Define and evolve architectural direction to support scalability and performance.Implement tools, frameworks, and practices that enhance team productivity.Anticipate and address product-level technical challenges with proactive design.Decompose complex projects into manageable systems for team development.Provide high-quality, hands-on technical contributions.Mentor engineers on leadership, strategy, and collaboration.Collaborate with cross-functional partners to resolve technical issues.Influence technical decisions across teams and stakeholders.Participate in company-wide initiatives to identify and remove blockers.Contribute to team planning and project prioritization.4. Requirements:7+ years of professional software development experience, preferably with Ruby on Rails.Proven full stack experience with one or more technology stacks.Strong expertise in system design, architecture, and scalable software.Experience leading and mentoring engineering teams.Ability to identify customer needs and deliver technical solutions.Proficiency in code review and improvement.Familiarity with agile development methodologies.Strong collaboration and influence skills across diverse teams.Bonus qualifications:Experience running a consulting company.Background in Machine Learning.Experience with functional languages such as Elm, Haskell, OCaml, Elixir, or F#.Experience in the logistics industry.5. Pay Range and Compensation Package:Annual Salary: $173,464.00 - $281,010.006.
