This role involves routine patient care, observation, and support under nursing supervision, fostering a safe and therapeutic environment.Key ResponsibilitiesDeliver patient care that ensures safety, dignity, and comfort while supporting a positive therapeutic atmosphere.Assist with new admissions by conducting contraband searches, orienting patients, obtaining vital signs, and securing belongings.Support patient transfers and discharges, including vital sign monitoring and managing personal items.Monitor and record vital signs and patient weight, reporting any abnormalities promptly.Help patients with daily living activities such as hygiene and toileting.Participate in therapeutic holds, restraints, and seclusion procedures following NCI training.Engage patients through play and group activities, reporting unusual findings to nursing staff.Conduct regular rounding and constant observation as directed, documenting accordingly.Facilitate therapeutic community meetings and wrap-ups as assigned.Contribute to educational and performance improvement initiatives and cost containment efforts.EducationHigh school diploma or equivalent required; Associate or Bachelor's degree in Psychology or Social Work preferred. Nursing Assistant certification accepted. BLS certification from the American Heart Association is mandatory.ExperiencePreferably 2 years of psychiatric experience.Requirements & SkillsExcellent verbal and written communication skills, strong customer service orientation, competency in working with diverse age groups affected by mental illness, and general computer proficiency. Must obtain Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification within 30 days of employment.Physical DemandsAbility to work variable shifts involving bending, prolonged standing, walking, patient turning and lifting. Visual and auditory acuity required for observation and documentation.This position serves a regional community in the Southeastern United States, providing vital behavioral health support in a collaborative and caring environment.
