Lab Technician

Job Title: Lab Technician Industry: Manufacturing Location: Corning, NY Rate: $37.44-$40.12/hr Interview Process: Initial phone screening via Teams with hiring manager, followed by a panel interview with the broader team for round two. Local candidates may be invited for a final onsite interview; non local candidates will not be required to interview onsite. This role sits within a research and development group focused on glass testing and mineralogical analysis, supporting scientists and engineers who develop and refine glass compositions for advanced manufacturing applications. Top 3 Skills Optical microscopy (stereomicroscopy and polarized light microscopy) Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) Glass and refractory sample preparation (cutting, mounting, epoxying, grinding, polishing) What You'll Do Analyze and image prepared samples using stereomicroscopy and polarized light microscopy Perform petrography, identifying crystalline phases within glass and documenting key measurements Prepare glass and refractory samples through cutting, mounting, epoxying, grinding, and polishing Conduct imaging and chemical analysis using SEM and EDX Perform sample analysis using X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) Manage workload and track samples using internal work request systems Prepare reports and data summaries for geologists and engineering staff Support day to day lab operations and maintain supplies What We Need From You BS in Geology, Materials Science, or a related scientific field 0 to 3 years of relevant experience Hands on experience with optical microscopy Preferred / Bonus Experience with SEM/EDX, XRD, microprobe, or ICPMS Sample preparation experience (mounting, epoxying, grinding, polishing) Experience working with glass and refractory materials About Elevait Elevait Solutions was founded by veterans who believe that how you treat people is the only thing that actually matters in this industry.
