Development Engineer (Automation / Integration / Commissioning)

Do you enjoy owning systems through integration, debugging, and final buy-off while working directly on the shop floor?AeroSpec is seeking a Development Engineer to lead the assembly, integration, testing, and commissioning of custom automation and test equipment across medical, automotive, and semiconductor industries. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys bridging design and reality—turning engineered concepts into fully functioning systems.Key ResponsibilitiesCoordinate and support assembly, wiring, integration, and commissioning of automated equipmentOwn system development from build → integration → debug → testing → customer buy-offCollaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to analyze designs vs. requirements Develop and execute system-level test plans, risk mitigation strategies, and acceptance proceduresLead Pre-FAT and FAT activities, including documentation and customer interaction Identify and troubleshoot system issues across mechanical, electrical, and controls domainsWork closely with engineering, production, and operations teams to resolve build challengesSupport hardware commissioning (HMI, servos, drives, sensors, temperature/flow controllers, etc.)Track and manage system issues using internal tools and workflowsCoordinate updates to drawings, BOMs, and documentation through redlines and change processesDrive development of Operator & Maintenance manuals with cross-functional input Ensure systems meet customer requirements, schedule, and budget targetsLead the installation and transition to customer sites, world-wide Requirements2+ years of experience in automation, system integration, or equipment developmentBachelor's of Engineering or Science Degree Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and controls systemsExperience with system integration, debug, and commissioning of complex equipmentAbility to interpret design specifications, schematics, and software requirementsHands-on troubleshooting skills across multiple engineering disciplinesExperience developing test plans, acceptance procedures, and validation protocols Strong organizational and problem-solving skillsBasic robotic or PLC programming a plus. SolidWorks experience a plus.
