Sales Coordinator

Department: TCP Sales                                           Job Status: Full-timeFLSA Status: Non-exempt                                       Travel Required: LimitedWork Schedule: 8:30am – 5:00pm                          Positions Supervised: N/AReports To: Director of Sales                                                General DescriptionThis position is responsible for participating in MDI’s strategy to increase TCP (Traffic Control Products) sales through our distributor network and directly with the end user. The main responsibilities include, but are not limited to; provide exceptional pre- and post-sale customer service and exceptional support for our Key Account Sales Managers. This is a customer service driven position in a multi-layered, task rich environment. Ability to multitask and adapt to changing situations, professional phone demeanor, a positive attitude and a customer service mindset are required. Principle ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain a thorough knowledge of MDI TCP products to service customer needs and to promote our product line differentiating MDI from our competitors who offer similar products and services.   Field incoming calls from prospective and established customers. Analyze feasibility to handle the inquiry completely or consult with the Key Account Sales Manager on the best means to service the account.Exemplify an outstanding phone demeanor to service potential and existing customers. Be conscientious to prioritize phone calls first to service customers and identify opportunities to network and stimulate sales. Proactively initiate sales with existing and potential customers by providing product information via phone, e-mail, mailed literature, follow-up calls and other creative solutions. Resolve customer concerns using pro-active problem solving and follow-up skills with a strong attention to detail to meet customer requirements. Communicate customer concerns to management.Receive and verify purchase orders. Update orders as needed with complete and accurate information.  Verify stock availability and enter order for shipment of product, follow delivery dates and notify the customer of any delays or changes regarding the order. Follow up with “after the sale” service as needed. Act as a liaison between the customer and Engineering and Estimating personnel to develop specifications for quotes and proposals for new and existing accounts.Implement process improvement initiatives and document the standardization of processes. Be an effective team-player. Interact and work cross-functionally with MDI departments. Exemplify a professional work demeanor, upholding the Company Core Values. Maintain a clean and safe work area and uphold a safe and healthy work environment for all. All other duties as assigned by management.QualificationsExcellent interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated job ownership and strong customer focus.Ability to multitask and prioritize work to manage multiple accounts effectively.Aptitude for customer service excelling in attention to detail to ensure meeting customer requirements.Strong interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills to interact with internal and external customers to foster a positive work environment.Solid deductive reasoning skills to negotiate and make effective business decisions.Education and Work ExperiencePrevious Customer Service/ Coordinator experience required. Sales and Marketing experience preferred.Knowledge of DOT, Construction and Utility markets preferred.Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education and/or work experience preferred.Computer SkillsProficient in MicroSoft Office Applications; Word, Excel.Knowledge of Lotus and Mac-Pac software preferred.
