The Surgical Assistant (SA) provides direct support to surgeons and physicians during surgical procedures in a fast-paced, multi-specialty perioperative environment. This role requires advanced knowledge of surgical anatomy, sterile techniques, and operative procedures to ensure safe and efficient patient care. The Surgical Assistant assists with patient positioning, surgical instrumentation, suturing, and other intraoperative tasks while anticipating the needs of the surgical team. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong clinical judgment, adaptability in high-pressure situations, and excellent communication skills while maintaining a patient-centered approach.Key Responsibilities
Assist surgeons and physicians during surgical procedures across multiple specialties.
Demonstrate knowledge of surgical anatomy and apply appropriate surgical techniques.
Perform surgical assisting duties including suturing, tissue handling, retraction, and proper use of surgical instruments.
Ensure proper patient positioning and maintain patient safety throughout surgical procedures.
Maintain strict adherence to aseptic and sterile techniques.
Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and respond promptly during operative procedures.
Follow perioperative policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines.
Communicate effectively with surgeons, nurses, and other members of the surgical team.
Adapt to changing and unpredictable situations in the operating room environment.
Support procedures in specialties including general surgery, orthopedic, neurosurgery, spinal, ENT, gynecological, urology, cardiovascular, thoracic, vascular, trauma, plastic, colorectal, and pediatric surgery.Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited Surgical Assistant Program with recent operating room experience within the last three (3) years preferred.
Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) through the National Commission for the Certification of Surgical Assistants (NCCSA) or Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) preferred.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
Strong understanding of surgical procedures, human anatomy, and sterile/aseptic techniques.
Demonstrated ability to anticipate the surgeon's needs and provide efficient intraoperative assistance.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a patient-centered approach.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary surgical team.
Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced, high-pressure perioperative environment.Important Details

Shift is 5X8 hrs Day shift, 40 hrs/week
