We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Automation Engineer to join our dynamic team.Position Summary:As an Automation Engineer at FormAlloy, you will work on the real-time control system that makes our state-of-the-art Directed Energy Deposition (DED) systems work, including process monitoring, closed-loop control, robotics, data recording, and vision systems, among others. Your role will be critical in enabling and enhancing our manufacturing systems’ capabilities, ensuring smooth operation, and driving innovation in hardware-software interaction.Key Responsibilities:Design, develop, and optimize real-time control system functionalityDevelop process monitoring & closed-loop control schema for various manufacturing processesSetup & test new machines as part of our machine production processContribute to controls and technical documentationCollaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, technicians, & product managers, to improve functionality and efficiencyWork closely with applications engineers to ensure reliable and repeatable machine operationProvide technical support to internal and external customers for controls-related issuesQualifications:Required:Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similarMinimum of 5 years of experience developing and integrating industrial, real-time control systemsExcellent problem-solving skills and attention to detailStrong communication skills for collaboration across multiple teamsDesired:Experience developing Power PMAC control systemsExpereience integrating EtherCAT industrial Ethernet protocolExperience with 6-axis articulating robots and Cartesian motion systemsExperience with industrial machine tools and metal additive manufacturing machinesProficiency in C, Python, and other programming languagesProven experience in hardware+software integration for manufacturing environmentsExperience with industrial protocols and standards related to hardware integrationWhat We Offer:• Competitive salary and benefits package• Opportunity to work on cutting-edge manufacturing technologies• Collaborative and innovative work environment• Professional development and growth opportunitiesApplication Process:If you’re a dedicated Automation Engineer with a passion for manufacturing technology, we’d love to hear from you.FormAlloy is an equal opportunity employer.
