Staff Accountant

Position Summary: We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience in project and construction accounting and/or property management accounting, along with strong analytical skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving. This role is responsible for core accounting functions including accruals, expense tracking, profit and loss analysis, and month-end close activities. Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare and record journal entries, including monthly and year-end accruals Maintain and analyze profit and loss statements, identifying trends, variances, and areas of concern Manage and reconcile project or property-related expenses, ensuring accuracy and alignment with budgets Support construction and project accounting activities, including job cost tracking, work-in-progress (WIP) schedules, and contract compliance (preferred) Perform general ledger reconciliations, including balance sheet accounts Assist with month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting Partner with operations, property management, and project teams to provide financial insights and ensure proper accounting treatment Assist in the preparation of financial statements, management reports, and audit schedules Evaluate existing processes and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and strengthen internal controls Demonstrate strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to resolve accounting issues proactively QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting or related field preferred 25+ years of progressive accounting experience Experience in construction/project accounting or property management accounting strongly preferred Solid understanding of GAAP and core accounting principles Proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Excel; experience with industry-specific software is a plus Strong analytical and organizational skills with high attention to detail Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Excellent communication skills with a collaborative, team-oriented mindset Demonstrated initiative and ability to think critically and solve problems proactively Position Type: Full-time Work Schedule: Varies; Standard working hours are expected, with occasional adjustments based on project needs.
