The SNA is responsible for organizing and setting up equipment and workstations per the direction of the SN Manager. Duties are performed as required by the USDA, health, food service and other regulations and laws. The SNA must demonstrate proper cafeteria equipment operation skills.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESGeneral knowledge of quantity food preparation and serviceGeneral knowledge of the use and care of food preparation equipmentSkill in the use of commercial food service utensils and equipmentAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, students and school staffAble to maintain self-controlAbility to maintain confidential records, including eligibility of studentsAbility to work with others in a close, fast paced environmentAbility to address customers in a pleasant, courteous mannerBasic ability to read, speak, and understand English EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCELevel of education necessary to be able to read and follow written food menus and work schedules.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:High School diploma or GEDSome experience working in a school cafeteria within the last five (5) yearsAbility to operate Point of Sale, including the use of computer softwareAble to obtain a North Carolina Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License with school bus certification and P&S endorsementsESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Practice Follow sanitation procedures per HACCP guidelinesPrepare food according to written and oral instructionsServe breakfast, lunch and a la carte itemsHandle cashiering responsibilitiesReplenish food and maintain clean serving areasMonitor food and equipment temperatures per HACCP guidelinesExhibit courtesy and understanding to all staff, students and customersUse all standardized work schedulesRotate stockParticipate in all required training and staff developmentExhibit professional behaviorParticipate in marketing promotions and special events for students, adults and the communitySign in and work according to a designated time schedulePerform additional duties as requested by the School Nutrition ManagerWORKING CONDITIONSPHYSICAL DEMANDSWork is considered moderate to heavy physical work requiring the exertion of up to 50 pounds of force. Must be able to withstand heat, exposure to chemicals, and standing for long periods of time.
