Procurement Specialist
Job DescriptionThe Procurement Specialist is responsible for supporting end‑to‑end purchasing and sourcing activities, including supplier coordination, commercial negotiations, and order execution, to ensure timely, cost‑effective delivery of materials and services. This role partners closely with Engineering, Quality, Operations, and Production Planning to support new product introductions, engineering changes, and ongoing operational requirements while ensuring compliance with procurement, quality, trade, and HSE standards. The position plays a key role in driving supplier performance, supporting cost and lead‑time improvement initiatives, and applying technical and commercial knowledge to support informed procurement decisions.ResponsibilitiesSupports regional and global procurement teamsCreates, processes, tracks, expedites and manages purchase requisitions and orders throughout their lifecyclesDrives procurement execution by expediting orders to meet delivery schedules, internal customer requirements, and operational objectivesActs as primary liaison with suppliersSupports Quality Assurance requirements by coordinating with suppliers and internal teams to address quality issues, non‑conformances, and corrective actionsObtains and evaluates supplier quotations and selects suppliers based on performance, cost, and commercial considerationsIdentifies and supports cost‑reduction and lead‑time improvement initiatives through supplier collaboration, sourcing strategies, and procurement data analysisValidates pricing accuracy and cost competitivenessNegotiates pricing, terms, and supply agreements in a firm, professional, and diplomatic mannerAnalyzes and resolves invoice and payment discrepanciesSupports inventory control and goods receiving activitiesSupports supplier qualification and performance processes, including participation in vendor audits and maintenance of approved supplier lists, in coordination with Quality and Supply ChainCollaborate with Engineering, Production Planning, and Quality to ensure material compatibility, availability, and compliance with design and technical standardsMaintains accurate and organized procurement records and documentationEnsures compliance with procurement policies and proceduresSupports import and temporary export processes for international repairs in coordination with Trade Compliance and regional procurement teamsParticipate in supplier and supply chain review meetingsRepresents the organization professionally with suppliersSupports new product introductions and engineering changes by aligning procurement activities with development and manufacturing timelinesSkills & CompetenciesApplies technical and commercial expertise, including oil and gas equipment specifications, to support procurement executionExercises sound judgment and problem‑solving skills to make timely decisions, including in situations with limited information and tight deadlinesDemonstrates flexibility and commitment to supporting operational and business requirements, including performing additional work‑related duties as neededEffectively manages time, priorities, and procurement processes while clearly communicating information to internal stakeholders and suppliersUses ERP systems, analytics, and procurement tools effectivelyAnalyzes procurement data using strong analytical and numerical capabilities to drive informed, timely sourcing and procurement decisionsProfessionalism, collaboration, integrity, effective cross‑functional and peer working relationships, clear and timely communication, and a strong internal customer focusAdvanced procurement functional competenciesDemonstrates commitment to continuous professional development by participating in relevant training and adapting skills and capabilities to meet evolving organizational needsDemonstrates accountability, ownership, reliability, and a strong drive to deliver resultsQualifications & RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business , Engineering, or related field preferred, or 2-4 years of progressive procurement experienceCPSM, CPIM, PMP, or similar professional certifications preferredComply with all NOV Company and HSE policies and proceduresCOMPETITIVE BENEFITS: (visit usbenefits.nov.com for more information about our benefits offerings)401(k) Retirement Plan – NOV matches every dollar up to 5% of base pay and overtime for every dollar you invest.Competitive medical plans that are effective your date of hire.
