Salary: $80,000 - $105,000 per year A bit about us: Based in Jersey City, NJ we are a family-owned real estate investment and management company dedicated to providing the NJ & NY communities with well kept commercial, residential and industrial properties! We have the 2nd largest real estate portfolio in the state of NJ, consisting of 9,000 rental apartments and 6 million square feet of commercial space. We are seeking a highly motivated Property Accountant who will be responsible for managing the financial records & accounting procedures of a significant multi-family residential portfolio. This position is responsible for recording, reviewing, and evaluating the financial transactions for a portfolio of owned, managed, or joint-ventured residential properties. Ensure compliance with GAAP accounting principles and company policies and procedures Reconcile bank accounts and prepare monthly bank statements Assist with annual budget preparation and variance analysis Prepare and file tax returns, including property tax and sales tax filings Coordinate with property management teams to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting Assist with ad hoc projects and reports as needed Job Details Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance 4-10 years of experience in real estate / property accounting Desired: experience managing a multi-family portfolio of properties (opportunity will be there for commercial + mixed use as well). Experience handling tenant expenses, security deposits, move in and move outs fees, misc. fees, general ledge duties and more! Experience with Yardi software required Strong understanding of GAAP accounting principles Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy Proficient in Microsoft Excel for reporting.
