At St. Francis, you will experience a culture of excellence where your work directly shapes the health of our community.Job SummaryThe Vascular Echo Sonographer performs non-invasive diagnostic procedures to assess cardiovascular health, including echocardiography, vascular studies, and electrocardiograms (EKGs)This role ensures the acquisition of high-quality images and accurate diagnostic data to support physicians in the diagnosis and management of cardiovascular and peripheral vascular conditions Essential FunctionsPerforms diagnostic echocardiograms, carotid duplex studies, venous/arterial studies, and EKGs in accordance with established protocolsReviews patient history and communicates exam expectations and proceduresOperates imaging equipment and adjusts parameters for optimal image qualityDocuments findings, ensures completion of exams, and communicates critical results as neededResponds appropriately to changes in patient condition and alerts nursing/medical staffAssists with safety checks, infection control procedures, and equipment troubleshootingMaintains adequate patient comfort, dignity, and privacy throughout proceduresParticipates in call rotation and weekend/holiday schedules as requiredEnsures timely completion of documentation and exam logsSupports continuous quality improvement efforts and maintains competency in imaging standards Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/ExpectationsAdvanced knowledge of cardiac and vascular anatomy and physiologyProficient in the use of ultrasound systems and PACS documentationEffective interpersonal, communication, and customer service skillsAbility to work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and allied health personnelMust be detail-oriented, organized, and able to multitask in a clinical settingMust be able to stand, walk, and assist with patient positioning and equipment transport QualificationsEducationHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredCompletion of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography or Cardiovascular Technology program preferred Licenses/CertificationsRegistered or registry-eligible with ARDMS (RDCS and RVT) or CCI (RCS and RVS); must obtain registry within 12 months of hireBasic Life Support (BLS) certification required ExperienceMinimum two (2) years of experience in echocardiography and vascular sonography preferredMust demonstrate strong critical thinking and the ability to function with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment
