Quality Assurance Technician – BakeryOverviewOur wholesale bakery is seeking a detail?oriented, proactive Quality Assurance (QA) Technician to help ensure that every product leaving our facility meets the highest standards of food safety, consistency, and quality. This role is essential to maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements and supporting a culture of continuous improvement across production.Key ResponsibilitiesQuality Control & Testing• Perform routine inspections of raw materials, in?process products, and finished goods.• Conduct physical, chemical, and sensory tests to verify product specifications.• Monitor critical control points (CCPs) and ensure compliance with HACCP plans.• Verify weights, dimensions, and visual characteristics of bakery items.Documentation & Compliance• Maintain accurate and timely QA records, logs, and reports.• Assist with internal audits, third?party audits, and regulatory inspections.• Ensure adherence to GMPs, food safety standards, and company SOPs.• Support implementation and maintenance of SQF, QAI, or other certification programs.Production Floor Support• Monitor sanitation practices and environmental conditions.• Identify and report deviations, non?conformances, or potential hazards.• Work closely with production teams to troubleshoot quality issues.• Verify proper labeling, lot coding, and allergen controls.Continuous Improvement• Participate in root?cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) processes.• Recommend improvements to processes, equipment, or documentation.• Support training of production staff on quality and food safety procedures.Qualifications• Experience in food manufacturing, preferably bakery or other high?volume production.• Knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, and food safety regulations (FDA, FSMA).• Strong attention to detail and problem?solving skills.• Ability to work in a fast?paced environment with frequent floor presence.• Basic computer skills for data entry and documentation.• Ability to lift 25–50 lbs and stand for extended periods.Preferred Skills• Familiarity with SQF, FDA, FSMA.• Experience with environmental monitoring or microbiological testing.• Bilingual abilities (English/Spanish) are a plus.Work Environment• Production facility with variable temperatures (coolers, freezers, ovens).• Requires use of PPE and adherence to strict hygiene standards.
