Vikan Middle School, a 27J School, is looking for a dynamic Middle School Reading Interventionist to inspire the next generation of thinkers, creators, and problem-solvers!Why Vikan?A Vibrant Learning Community - We are a traditional middle school that values academic excellence and restorative practices, ensuring every student feels supported and empowered.Located in the Heart of Brighton, CO - Our school is a hub of learning, leadership, and innovation in a growing and diverse community.Empowering Our Knights - Our vision is clear: "Empowering our Knights today, to become the learners, leaders, and thinkers of tomorrow."Key ResponsibilitiesInstruction & InterventionDeliver small-group and individualized reading interventions aligned to student needs and assessment data.Implement evidence-based literacy strategies focused on decoding, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.Differentiate instruction to support diverse learners, including multilingual learners and students with IEPs, 504, or READ plans.Assessment & Progress MonitoringAnalyze diagnostic, formative, and summative literacy assessments. Assessments include FastBridge aReading, CBMReading, District Common Assessments, and other in-class data sources.Monitor student progress regularly and adjust instruction accordingly.Maintain accurate records of student performance and intervention outcomes.Use data to identify trends and inform instructional decisions.Collaboration & SupportPartner with classroom teachers to align intervention strategies with core instruction.Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) communities.Provide strategies and resources to teachers to support literacy across content areasCommunicate regularly with families regarding student progress and strategies for support at home.Key CompetenciesStrong understanding of adolescent literacy development.Data-driven instructional decision-making.Ability to build relationships with students and staff.Effective communication and collaboration skills.Commitment to equity and supporting diverse learners.Knowledge of early literacy instructional practices with an elementary frame or secondary frame.Required Qualifications:A valid Colorado Department of Education Teaching License.Colorado Department of Education "In Field" by CDE endorsement or qualifications to teach the posted subject area.The ability to handle many complex tasks simultaneously.The ability and interest to be part of a high-functioning team.
