Engineer - GSE Mechanical III

The position is for a Mechanical Engineer II/III supporting advanced aerospace manufacturing and integration efforts. Join an innovative spaceflight organization focused on building safe, reusable vehicles and enabling the future of human space exploration.Contract Length: 6-month contract Location: North Hollywood, CA Work Setup: On-site Schedule: A shift with occasional B-shift (2 10 PM, 1 2 times/month) Pay Rate:Level II: $60.27/hr (W2, no benefits)Level III: $73.52/hr (W2, no benefits)Mechanical Engineer II/III ResponsibilitiesServe as the primary Mechanical Engineer II/III for assembly and integration activities, ensuring smooth build executionDefine and optimize assembly sequences, workflows, and integration plansProvide hands-on floor support, working directly with technicians to resolve fit, alignment, and access issuesDesign and maintain ground support equipment (GSE), tooling, and fixtures for safe and efficient operationsDevelop engineering artifacts including 3D CAD models, drawings, and work instructionsTroubleshoot nonconformances, lead root cause analysis, and implement corrective actionsCollaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and test teamsEvaluate designs for feasibility, cost, and performance while ensuring compliance with standardsMechanical Engineer II/III QualificationsRequired Qualifications:Bachelor s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (or related field)2+ years of experience designing aerospace or similar mechanical systemsProficiency with 3D CAD tools (Creo, NX, CATIA, or SolidWorks)Strong knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5)Hands-on experience supporting assembly, integration, or test environmentsFamiliarity with fabrication processes, materials, and quality control methodsAbility to work independently in fast-paced, evolving development programsPreferred Qualifications:Experience with electromechanical systems or exotic materials (e.g., ceramics)Background in GSE/tooling design for aerospace applicationsFEA experience using ANSYS, NASTRAN, or similar toolsAdvanced proficiency in Creo (Pro/ENGINEER)Mechanical Engineer II/III Prescreen QuestionsDescribe your hands-on experience supporting mechanical assembly or integration activities, including working directly with technicians and any GSE/tooling designWhat 3D CAD tools and GD&T standards have you used, and for how long?
