Accelera Solutions is looking for a Database Administrator to perform day to day operations on several SQL clusters for a large DoD program. The ideal candidate would be well-versed in Microsoft SQL Server management, to include installation, tuning, monitoring, query optimization, clustering, migrations, and backups. The position requires someone with an engineering and programmatic execution background who possesses the polish and business acumen to be client facing and work as part of a team. Knowledge of other database systems, such as Oracle, is a plus but not required.
Some of the job duties will include:
Standard administration and maintenance of MS SQL instances in a WSFC environment at a mid/senior level
Provide expertise and guidance to the team as they manage customer MS SQL databases
Implement security procedures and tools
Maintain proper security posture of all relevant data related to daily duties
Monitor and tune existing databases
Support system architecture design and implementation efforts for existing and new deployments
Manage accounts and network rights
Manage systems resources, including performance, capacity, availability, serviceability, and disaster recovery
Develop and document systems administration standard operating procedures
Establish and improve on performance metrics
Resolve significant hardware/software interface and interoperability issues
Maintain systems configuration in a sustainable manner
Ensure the rigorous application of information security/information assurance policies, principles, and practices
Interact with customers wishing to utilize the database cluster environment(s)
Brief government sponsors daily on progress
Education and Certificates
Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or relevant work experience of at least 8 years
DoD 8570 IAT Level II Compliance (Security+, CASP, or CISSP, Microsoft Certifications)
A vendor/platform-specific certification (e.g., Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD), Microsoft Certified Applications Developer (MCAD), Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, Red Hat Certification Program (RHCP), CISCO Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), Citrix Certified Administrator (CCA), VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Oracle Database SQL Certified Associate)
Clearance
Active Secret clearance required
Career Experience
Minimum of eight (8) years of hands-on experience with MS SQL administration.
Minimum of eight (8) years of hands-on experience with Windows Server 2008/2012/2016/2019 in support of managing databases. Previous Windows Server 2019 experience is preferred but not required.
Experience managing clusters of database servers in an enterprise environment.
Understand essential network services such as DNS, SMTP, NTP, and IP tables.
Understanding of the requirements for day-to-day support operations maintaining databases
Experience with user account management and associated DoD security practices.
Experience in a virtual environment such as VMWare or AWS GovCloud.
Minimum of 3 years Federal experience, preferably DoD. Military experience counts toward this requirement.
Additional Qualifications that are considered a plus:
Experienceworking in the Defense Health Agency hosting environment.
Experience working with version-controlled configurations.
Experience with automation tools such as Powershell.
Experience administering AWS or Microsoft Azure
