SOFTWARE ENGINEER, FORWARD DEPLOYED

We're looking for a Software Engineer, Forward Deployed to lead the integration, deployment, and validation of Oureon's autonomy software across diverse partner and customer platforms. You'll operate at the intersection of software engineering, systems integration, and real-world testing — ensuring our autonomy stack performs seamlessly in production environments.You'll integrate with partner systems, validate end-to-end functionality, and close the loop between development, deployment, and operational feedback.What You'll Be DoingDeploy and integrate Oureon's autonomy software onto partner and customer platformsBuild and maintain SDKs, APIs, and integration tooling to accelerate external adoptionValidate end-to-end system performance — backend, frontend, data pipelines, and autonomy orchestrationDesign and execute system-level testing frameworks to ensure stability, scalability, and correctness in live environmentsCollaborate with partner engineering teams to diagnose, debug, and resolve integration issues in real timeProfile and optimize distributed components for performance and reliability under real-world conditionsFeed operational findings directly into core software design and architecture decisionsWork closely with internal engineering and product teams to improve developer experience and integration workflowsTechnical Requirements RequiredStrong software engineering background in RustProven experience integrating and deploying complex distributed systems or data-driven applicationsHands-on familiarity with Redis, NATS JetStream, and PostgreSQLExperience with WebSocket or other bi-directional communication systemsDeep understanding of integration testing, system validation, and deployment automationComfort debugging across network boundaries, APIs, and multiple software layersStrong communication skills for partner-facing technical work and cross-functional collaborationPreferredExperience deploying software to robotics, mobility, or aerospace platformsFamiliarity with hardware abstraction layers, simulation environments, or mission control systemsUnderstanding of observability tooling, telemetry, and system monitoringBackground in real-time or event-driven architecturesFamiliarity with containerization and cloud orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)Our Stack LanguageRustData LayerMessaging & StreamingNATS JetStreamInfrastructureWebSocket-based messaging, containerized microservicesTesting & ValidationEnd-to-end integration testing, system simulation, performance benchmarkingWhat We're Looking For We want an engineer who can bridge the gap between software and the systems it runs on — someone who can translate architecture into operational reliability.
