Senior Director of Safety and Facilities

KBPW requires employee to work 40 hours per week during prescribed business hours. Vacation and sick leave benefits are provided to be used for any hours not worked during the work week. Additional compensation may be provided to Exempt employees for hours worked above the requirement at the discretion of the Board and/or CEO. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Employee will be responsible for company compliance for all KBPW requirements regarding safety. Ensures compliance with all federal, state, local, and utility regulatory organization’s laws, codes, rules, and regulations. Maintains the efficient and smooth operation of the physical facilities of KBPW. Maintains valid CPR, AED, and first aid certification. Employee supervises and coordinates activities of department director(s). This position qualifies as safety sensitive under PSC guidelines. SAFETY TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop, prepare, and implement safety policies and procedures. Identifies potential risks through data, observations, and staff discussions and provides recommendations for mitigation. Inspects equipment, tools and working conditions to ensure safety of workers compliance for all departments. Stops operations and activities that could harm employees, equipment, or property. Observes crews at work on the job site and reports laxity in safety precautions. Responds to job-related medical emergencies and injuries Investigates accidents to determine causes and devises preventive measures. Accountable for company compliance with KBPW requirements. Conducts monthly safety meetings and provides technical expertise to the Safety Committee. Conducts training relating to safety and personnel. Conducts trainings for first aid, CPR, and other health programs. Assists with workers’ compensation claims. Maintains current knowledge of utility safety Responsible for completion of annual audit requirements for KBPW Attends meetings and training as required by this position and/or the Chief Executive Officer. Composing and completion of all reports and data required by this position and/or the Chief Executive Officer. FACILITIES TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintains physical space, ensuring a safe, clean, and functional environment. Receives, manages, and processes work order requests; ensures problems are resolved quickly. Drafts and implements preventive maintenance schedules for facilities. Facilitates proper maintenance of all parts and areas of KBPW facilities and grounds. Evaluates facilities jobs in process and on completion to ensure work meets quality standards. Suggests, plans, and oversees facility needs to maximize efficiency. Maintains files of warranties, records, licenses, inspections, service agreements, and contracts for facilities. Oversees the maintenance, upkeep, and repair of facilities and grounds. Responsible for ensuring facilities and grounds are safe, clean, and functional. Conducts site surveys and creates budgets for facility and grounds needs. DEPARTMENTAL SUPERVISION TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides leadership to Director(s) and Manager(s). Conducts visual inspection to assure all jobs are completed accurately. Maintains accurate records of the Director’s payroll records. Maintains accurate records of the Director's job performance. Assists Director(s) with budget and goal creation, implementation, and completion. Monitors the Department’s progress on projects and assists with any hinderances. KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: Employee should have a working knowledge of all utility services and safety regulations. Employee must have the ability and willingness to understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Employee must seek to maintain good public relation practices when working with the public. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND OR WORKING ENVIRONMENTS: Able to tolerate and work in extreme weather conditions, be physically able to access and navigate facilities and property owned by KBPW and be physically able to administer medical aid. Employee is subject to being on call twenty-four hours a day in case of emergencies. LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONS: Licensed by the American Heart Association for CPR, First Aid and AED use on adults and children/infants. Valid Driver’s License CSP certification encouraged Residency Policy: As of May 1, 2022, employees of City Light Gas and Water are required to live within a 10-mile radius, from 303 S. Anthony Street, Kennett, Missouri and are bound to the west by the St. Francis River located approximately 4.4 miles west, and to the east by Little River Floodway Ditch located approximately 3.85 miles east. All new hires are required to adhere by this policy and must meet the residency requirements within six months of their hire date. All employees shall have a telephone at their place of residence, landline or cellular service is acceptable. Unlisted telephone numbers will be permitted providing the number be made available to all departments of CLGW. If a cellular service is chosen, signal reliability is required. This is the responsibility of the employee. General and Administrative employees must have a reliable internet connection furnished in the event remote work is forced. This is the responsibility of the employee. Any employee violating the residency requirements may be suspended, demoted, or terminated by the Superintendent of Utilities.
