The frames are incredibly durable and built to last 10 years or more.Role OverviewWe are seeking a Senior Industrial Designer to lead the technical design and CAD ownership of our modular furniture systems. This role will focus on rebuilding and standardizing full 3D CAD assemblies of our existing products, developing animated assembly and manufacturing sequences, and designing a new modular sleeper system with an integrated foldable steel base.This is a hands-on, production-focused role for a designer who is equally comfortable refining product form and building structured, manufacturing-ready CAD assemblies.The ideal candidate has strong experience in furniture systems, understands manufacturing constraints, and can bridge design intent with engineering execution.Key ResponsibilitiesCAD Ownership & Documentation (Primary Focus)Recreate and standardize full 3D CAD assemblies for existing modular furniture productsModel complete assemblies including frames, brackets, connectors, upholstery interfaces, and hardwareDevelop structured BOMs and part hierarchiesCreate exploded views and detailed assembly documentationProduce animated CAD sequences showing:Assembly stepsManufacturing flowModular configuration changesEnsure CAD files are organized, revision-controlled, and production-readyMechanical System DevelopmentDesign and engineer foldable steel sleeper mechanismsDevelop linkage systems, hinges, pivots, and locking mechanismsPerform load path and structural considerations (static and dynamic)Conduct tolerance stack-up analysisImprove durability and cycle life performanceIntegrate recliner systems (manual and powered)Manufacturing & Overseas Production SupportPrepare complete factory-ready documentation packagesCommunicate directly with overseas suppliersReview prototypes and pilot production samplesIdentify root causes of quality issuesEnsure consistent production executionProcess & System BuildingBuild internal CAD libraryStandardize components and hardwareDevelop internal engineering documentation processesSupport long-term product scalabilityRequired QualificationsBachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial Design or related field10+ years experience designing furniture or physical product systemsAdvanced proficiency in SolidWorks (or similar parametric CAD software)Experience building large, structured assembliesExperience creating exploded views and assembly animationsStrong understanding of materials (wood, metal, upholstery)Experience taking products from concept to productionPreferred QualificationsExperience designing sleeper sofas or transformable furnitureFamiliarity with steel components or mechanical integrationsExperience working with overseas factoriesKnowledge of modular product systemsRendering skills (KeyShot, Blender, etc.)What Success Looks LikeFull CAD ownership of current product lineClear, structured, production-ready assembliesHigh-quality animated assembly documentationA manufacturable, well-integrated modular sleeper systemReduced production ambiguity and improved factory communication
