Hardware Technical Program Manager
Piper Companies is seeking a Hardware Technical Program Manager to join a leading organization within the high-speed interconnect and advanced hardware manufacturing industry in a hybrid position in Morrisville, NC. This Hardware Technical Program Manager role is ideal for a technically fluent, customer-facing program leader who can operate close to the product, understand real-world applications, and bridge customers, engineering, and manufacturing teams in a highly collaborative environment.
Responsibilities of the Hardware Technical Program Manager
Serve as the technical and programmatic bridge between customers, applications engineering, hardware design, manufacturing, and quality teams
Translate customer application requirements into clear technical requirements, constraints, and program deliverables
Manage complex, cross-functional hardware programs involving cable, connector, and backplane systems from concept through production
Lead customer-facing technical discussions, executive briefings, and on-site visits (up to 20% travel)
Identify technical, schedule, and integration risks early by understanding how products perform in real-world customer environments
Support design validation, qualification testing, and customer issue resolution or escalations
Guide engineering prioritization based on application-level impact, system performance, and customer use cases
Qualifications of the Hardware Technical Program Manager
7+ years of experience in technical program management, systems engineering, applications engineering, or hardware engineering
Strong application-level understanding of how hardware products are deployed in customer systems
Experience working with high-speed interconnects, connectors, cables, backplanes, or electro-mechanical products
Must be eligible to work in the United States and obtain and maintain an Active U.S. Government Secret Clearance.
Working knowledge of signal integrity, power integrity, materials, tolerances, and manufacturing considerations
Proven ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both engineering teams and customer stakeholders
Comfortable reviewing technical documentation and participating in engineering-level discussions
Prior experience in customer-facing roles, including on-site support or executive-level technical presentations
Compensation for the Hardware Technical Program Manager includes
Salary range: $160,000 - $200,000 depending on experience
