Registered Nurse - Non Public Schools
RESPONSIBLE TO: Health Services Supervisor and School PrincipalGeneral Duties: To provide health services to students attending non-public schools of SEAS (Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton) and St. John's in the Hastings School District. This position is dependent on state funding appropriated solely for this purpose.HOURS/SCHEDULE: Scheduling based on identified student need, generally 12 - 14 hours per week during the school day following school calendar. Generally 2 days a week.Responsibilities As Nurse IncludeProvide direct skilled nursing services, first aid, illness and emergency care to students in accordance with professional standards, school policy and procedures, state and local mandates.Administer medications and treatments as a professional nurse according to District #200 policy (e.g. glucose testing, medication administration, etc.)Maintain a daily log of health office visits including student visits and actions takenConduct health care assessment and decision making based on medical knowledge and licensureAssess the health needs of students and arrange for those needs to be met when the nurse is not in the school building.Conduct vision and hearing screenings and other screenings as assigned.Delegate nursing functions as necessary, with appropriate assessment, teaching, monitoring and supervision according to the Minnesota Nursing Practice Act.Maintain confidentiality and data privacy, educate staff on privacy lawsCommunicate with a wide variety of educational teams to coordinate student health care.Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, and staffMaintain and update health records, immunization files, and records.Assist Licensed School Nurse in the development and implementation of IEP, IHP, 504 Plans, and other health planning for students under their license and direction.Participate on Child Study Team, assist Licensed School Nurse in assessment, development, and implementation of IEP, IHP and other health plans for students under their license and direction, submit Third Party Billing as neededPerform other duties as assignedSalary/Benefits$33.68 per hour.No benefits are available for this position.
