Senior Mechanical Engineer

The idea that our hard work can help make their jobs easier, assist them to defend our nation, and can help ensure they return home safely to their loved ones motivates us every day, and we hope that you join us on that mission!Job Responsibilities:Provide in-service engineering for Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (AC/R), Steam, Auxiliary, Combat Support, Life Support and Ventilation, and/or Compressed Air SystemsProvide project management, programmatic, engineering/technical support, test procedure development, testing, and onsite coordination support for programs, including Machine Alterations (MACHALTs), engineering change proposals. and/or ship change documents (SCDs)Review preliminary designs, detail designs, and drawings; Identify discrepancies between installation drawings, and actual vessel configuration; identify interferencesProvide market research, engineering support, and recommendations to resolve obsolescence, engineering deficiencies, and provide new capabilities to support technical concernProvide Ship system configuration, testing, training, support, troubleshooting, and assessments of HM&E systemsConduct pre- and post-installation ship checks to verify the accuracy of installation drawingsSupport Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) development, certification packages for MACHALTs, and/or SCDs in accordance with the associated drawings, and instructionsDocument, manage, and ensure revision to ILS technical, and supply support documentation including APL’s, Technical Manuals, Maintenance Requirement Cards (MRCs), and Maintenance Index Pages (MIPs), as identified during ship checks, and other system verifications.Develop and track Plan of Action, and Milestones (POAMs) for related programs and projects.Provide strategic planning and analysis of requirements to assist in developing a fully Integrated Master Schedule (IMS)Actively participate in the System Engineering Program (SEP), which includes attending meetings; completing action items; participating on sub teams, and participating in training, and assessments. Provide support for Systems Engineering Plan tools and processesRequired Skills:Bachelor’s degree in any engineering discipline from an accredited college or universityTen (10) years’ experience providing project management, programmatic, engineering/technical support, test procedure development, testing, and onsite coordination support for NSWCPD.Ten (10) years of experience in: Navy Ship Auxiliary systems, including distributed machineryExperience with the CVN ship classControl systems and software; Auxiliary Fuel, and Lube Oil systems; Auxiliary Pumps, and Smart Valves; Auxiliary Machinery, and the testing of these systemsKnowledge of NSWCPD System Engineering Program (SEP), Alterations (MACHALTs), engineering change proposals, and/or ship change documents (SCDs) processesExperience with Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) development and obsolescence managementAbility to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes.
