Job title : Paralegal (Public Records / Legal Support) Location: Indianapolis, IN (Onsite) Duration : 7+ Months Contract Type : Contract ****** In person only****** Job DutiesProcess incoming Public Records Requests and fulfill within allotted timeframeResearch and analyze law sources including statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal codes related to public recordsLearn and apply Indiana Code to APRA requests for determination of release or denial of recordsProcess body and dash camera footage to ensure appropriate redactions are made per ICReview Indiana Code and Indiana Administrative Code to make proposals regarding potential language changesCoordinate assembly of documentation required as the result of subpoenas and discovery requests if neededEnsure proper indexing and filing of original legal documents as neededAnswer phones for Legal Office personnelPerform other duties as requiredRequired Skills:High school diploma or GED required.Paralegal certification with 2 years paralegal experience.Basic Computer skills.Must be at least 18 years old.Strong attention to detail.Able to communicate clearly and professionally, both in writing and orally.Prior experience handling sensitive or confidential information.Prior experience w/Legal Research sites LexisNexis and Westlaw.Prior experience conceptualizing and developing programs and procedures.Paralegal competency certification w/National Federation of Paralegal Associations or CLA/CP certification w/National Assoc. of Legal Assistants.Associates degree (or higher) with paralegal Studies w/certification.
