Key Skill: Steel Structural DesignTools: Revit AND RISARESPONSIBILITIESServe as Structural Engineer (SE) to provide conceptual and detailed design of data center structuresPerforming structural design and analysis using RISA 3D, in accordance with applicable design standards (lifting, transport and installation load cases)Performing design of structural steel connections (bolted and welded connections, lifting points, anchoring points, etc.)Work with local agencies having jurisdiction to ensure compliance with federal, state and municipal building codes and regulationsCreate designs which meet or exceed Vertiv quality requirements and fall within budgetary requirementsProvide a detailed Schematic Design (SD), Detail Design (DD) and Construction Drawing (CD) narrative for structural design aspects of the solutionReview and approve structural product submittals.Coordinate with Architectural Engineer on thermal transfer calculations (fire ratings and thermal bridges)Ensuring model, drawings and calculation accuracy through internal quality control and design reviewsDetailed design of foundation requirementsManage and coordinate contracted engineering companies regarding civil work calculations, mechanical and structural calculations and creation of factory documentationMaterial specification – structural and finishWork with Vertiv’s business units, Business Partners and preferred vendors to specify the appropriate material specifications and sizes for the fabrication process to succeedDefine project scope and provide technical support for information requests prior to and during construction phasesWelding procedure and inspection specificationProvide Nondestructive examination (NDE) methods specificationProvide Surface preparation and painting specificationDevelop and provide Dimensional test procedureDevelop and provide structural load test procedure and calculationCoordination between architectural and civil work designProvide technical project coordination with customers and suppliersQuality control during executionProvide support for all on site module repairs (damaged paint, door malfunction etc.)Work with fabrication teams to properly check and validate construction process, welding specifications and welding inspection points during construction of the moduleTravel to fabricators facility for design validation and review their workmanship as well as provide engineering evaluations and workmanship audits as neededMay communicate with the customer to design the best possible solution for his needsOffer creative, out of the box solutions to the customerQUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s Degree/ Master’s Degree in Structural (Civil) EngineeringEIT certification or progress toward PE licensureMinimum 2 years of structural engineering experienceKnowledge of applicable federal, state, and local regulations, building codes, and industry standardsExperience with structural steel design and connection designFamiliarity with lifting/transport design and temporary load conditionsProficiency with structural analysis tools (RISA 3D preferred)Working knowledge in AutoCAD and Autodesk RevitProven experience with Microsoft Office ApplicationsExperience with data center or industrial structural projectsMust be able to interpret customer specification requirementsMust have the ability to research new designs, technologies and construction methods of data center equipment and facilitiesAbility to think outside the box to find creative and innovative solutions to reduce costs with no impact on quality, reliability or maintainability.Must possess excellent communication skills both written and verbal.Detail oriented.Proven leadership and problem-solving skills.TIME TRAVEL REQUIRED• 15 – 25% Domestic and International travel required
