Job Description:Type of Requisition:RegularClearance Level Must Currently Possess:SecretClearance Level Must Be Able To Obtain:SecretPublic Trust/Other Required:NoneJob Family:Field Service and SupportSkills:Job Qualifications:Problem Solving, Technical Advice, Technical ProductsCertifications:NoneExperience:2 + years of related experienceUS Citizenship Required:YesJob Description:FIELD ENGINEER ASSOCIATE:GDIT is seeking a Fiber Technician to help support our upcoming Base Infrastructure Modernization (BIM) contract at Hickam Air Force Base in Hawaii.HOW A FIBER TECHNICIAN WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:Install, terminate, fusion splice, and test single mode and multimode fiber across inside plant and outside plant environments in support of network sustainment, infrastructure hardening, and modernization milestones.Troubleshooting fiber faults during outage restoration alongside the Network Operations team, meeting the restoration service level windows defined in the BIM contract.Document fiber plant additions, modifications, and as built changes in the configuration management system and the customer infrastructure tracking process.Coordinate planned and unplanned fiber work with US Navy outside plant maintenance, Civil Engineering Squadron pathway approvals, and the 747th Communications Squadron.Support site survey, modernization installation, and cutover activities including communications equipment location build out, horizontal cabling for wireless access points, and core node to access node connectivity.WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED: Required Skills: Fiber Optic Splicing, OTDR Testing, Outside Plant Cabling, Structured Cabling, Network Troubleshooting. Security Clearance Level: Active Secret Education: Technical Training, Certification(s), High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline preferred.Role requirements: On site at Hickam AFB. Occasional travel to geographically separated unit locations. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, work in confined spaces including manholes and vaults, and operate at heights using lifts and ladders. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary.
